i’m here to talk with you about asshole fbi!dex! this guy is one of my favorite variations of him and I don’t think he gets enough credit. this guy is PATHETIC and such a dickhead. Would love to just slap him silly but you know he’d be into that.
I have some fic stuff already written out for fbi!dex but I find the dynamic difference between s3 and ddba dex absolutely fascinating. to me, fbi!dex is the picture perfect semblance of control. He’s just a pot waiting to boil over and we see how Fisk takes advantage of that.
In born again, he’s got that control back. He doesn’t look to others to keep it for him (Dr. Mercer, Julie, Nadeem, Fisk) and has found a way to guide himself. I think we also see him shift some of that “North Star” focus onto Matt in a way because he’s viewing him as this angel of vengeance and balance, of which he is all too glad to accept.
But back to fbi!dex, he’s such a little shit and he knows it. He’s good at his job and can get away with just about anything. If we’re applying this to x reader (which is my bread and butter) I can absolutely see him getting into a relationship STAY WITH ME NOW
I think he would IF he’s the one being pursued. Could he also do the pursuing? Yes, but if we’re sticking with his true character, I think that’s less likely. I feel like attention to him would feel like a threat at first. He’s not used to that, we see it in the way he interacts with Julie at the bar. She recognizes him positively but he seems almost a bit nervous to be perceived, even though that’s what he ultimately wants.
I feel like Dex might find being pursued endearing. Like, he stalks people for a living and as a hobby, someone just trying to be around him might give some amusement after unease ceases. After much pursuing and wooing, I can see him accepting a relationship as a way to finally be “normal”.
But this relationship quickly turns into something possessive and ugly. He’s tracking your every movement, scanning your phone, scouting who you spend time with and where you are. Dec is controlling in a way that’s sweet enough to seem sincere which is dangerous because you won’t realize how deep in you are until your feet can’t touch the bottom.
He’s also definitely commenting on what you wear. I loathe people who do this but fbi!dex is such an ass I just know he’d do it. Skirt too short? Better turn around and change. Those crop tops you love? Suddenly gone in a fit of Dex’s anger. He’s silently planning the brutal death of the barista at your local coffee shop who he thinks smiles at you too much.
Dex will tear down the world for you and unfortunately, that means YOUR world. He’s rip it apart and build it back up in his image, perfect like it should be.
