Heated Rivalry teammates AU, starting from the middle of 1x04 "Rose."
What the fuck, you were traded to the Metros? Ilya can picture Hollander’s face. He starts to text, it was not for you, but saying that would tell Hollander that he thinks Hollander might think it was, and that—no. Not after the last time together, Ilya calling him Shane in that one fucking moment of weakness, Hollander saying I can’t and running away like Ilya offered him a ring. But Ilya also can’t admit that he had no say in it, that he thinks it’s because there’s a rumor circulating that Ilya Rozanov is an honest-to-God cocksucker and Boston’s management didn’t like hearing it, and that’s only because Ilya got a little too drunk and a little too indiscreet with the wrong person after Hollander fucking ran away. Why so upset? You only get off if I’m beating you? Fuck off.

Here is the most romantic proposal you'll ever read
Eddie walks back into the living room, two cups of coffee in his hands. He looks tired, his hair falling onto his forehead. They had just woken up from their post shift nap and still have a couple of hours before Christopher gets home from hanging out with his friends.
Buck locks his phone quickly, pushing it under his thigh, which only makes Eddie suspicious instead of not notice it. He raises an eyebrow, setting the cups down, “What?”
“Nothing,” Buck replies, grabbing his cup and taking a big sip, only to burn his tongue. He tries to hide the wince, but fails to.
Instead of continuing to question him, Eddie snatches the phone from it's supposed hiding place and unlocks it with his thumb. They both have each other's passwords memorized and Buck added Eddie's finger print to his phone. Because, normally, they don't have any secrets.
Eddie reads the screen, his frown deepening the further he gets. Buck sighs, knowing he can't stop him, and takes a more careful sip this time.
“What the fuck?”
Buck just hums, because, yeah. What the fuck?
“So- if I get this right,” Eddie says, getting up to pace in front of the television, “if I die, my will makes sure you get Chris, but you won't get anything else unless I file a dozen or so documents?”
“I guess,” Buck says, sighing.
“You could get kicked out of this house?”
“Eh, I mean, this is a rental. I think that part is mostly about bought houses only being on one person’s name.”
“My fucking car would go to my parents?” Eddie's voice yells as he waves his hand vaguely at the window where his Prius is parked.
Buck is already out of answers, so he just sits back with his coffee and watches as Eddie runs his hand through his hair, messing it up even more. He's mumbling now, Buck can't quite hear what he's saying.
And then suddenly, Eddie stop. He turns to Buck with a strange expression on his face. His eyes are wide, cheeks red… “We have to get married.”
Buck, who was in the middle of taking a sip, chokes. The coffee makes it's way through his nose, still burning, and he doubles over to prevent anything from getting on the couch. “What?!” He wheezes through his coughs.
“We have to get married,” Eddie says, placing his hands on his hips. “It would solve everything. Instead of so many legal paperwork to go through, it'll just be that. And, okay, a few more next to it, but getting married would help and speed things up. You'd be Christopher’s step parent, maybe you can adopt him as well, just to be safe. You'd get everything I own if I die. And if I get hurt badly, the doctors will listen to you instead of my parents, because I do not trust them to make the right decisions for me. They'd probably immediately transfer me to a hospital in El Paso. And if you're hurt, I can at least visit you and won't be forced to wait outside like that woman had to.”
“Emma,” Buck says numbly. “Her name is Emma.”
“You saw her, Buck. She was devastated. She didn't even know if Judy was alive. They had been together for more than ten years!”
Buck rubs his hand over his face, “Eddie… we aren't dating. We can't just get married. Isn't that fraud?”
“Then we'll start dating,” Eddie says easily with a shrug. “But who would he suspicious? It's not like in The Proposal, neither of us needs a green card. We'd just be two American men wanting to get married, and no one could stop us. I mean, it's legal since, eh…”
“2013,” Buck answers, “Well, in California it was briefly legal in 2008 as well, but then it got overturned.”
Eddie stares at him for a moment, then hides his face in his hands, “Jesus. That recent? Twelve years?”
Buck sighs, “Eddie, until a few years ago, there were counties in Alabama who stopped giving marriage licenses all together to avoid having to give them to queer couples. It wasn't until 2019 that some of them allowed same-sex couples to get married. And thirteen states didn't legalize it until the Supreme Court declared it a right in 2015, including Texas.”
“I remember,” Eddie says solemnly, “Shannon’s friend got married to her wife that year. Jesus, Buck…”
Buck just grunts. He'd always known this, like he had told Tommy, Buck had always been an ally. Very active, too. He joined Hen to pride parades each year and read any information he could find. He knew the history. He had always been angry at the lack of rights. But when he realized that all of that applied to him too, were he in a relationship with a man, it had been a difficult week.
Eddie sits down next to him on the couch, letting himself fall down and making their shoulders knock together. “We have to get married, Buck. I don't know how else to fix this. What if they keep changing the rules? What if they make it more and more difficult?”

TEASER TUESDAY
Tagged by @thecarrott. It's a snippet from "Found Beyond the Horizon"
After dinner (where Tommy made them Nonna Fran’s Pasta Ala Pamodoro), he went to help Franny get ready in her room when the young girl tried to lift a beautiful dark cherry wood box from her dresser.
“Hey.” Tommy gently grabbed the box for her. “Baby, we’re just having a sleepover for one night, you don’t have to pack everything.”
“I know that.” Franny looks like he was the one being silly. “This is for you.”
“For me?” Tommy smiled at her as he crouched down in front of her. “You don’t have to give me anything, Princess. Not when something looks so precious like this.”
“But there’s letters for you in here, daddy.” Franny pouted adorably, opening the box in Tommy’s hands to reveal stacks of letters, photos and little momentos in it. “It’s my baby box, see?” She points out a lock of blond curls tucked between the stacks. “Papa said this is hair from my first haircut. And this,” she stuck a print of inked baby hand and foot prints under his nose, “is my baby prints.”

teaser tuesday (madneddie version!)
I'm finally back from vacation so hopefully the full version of this fic will hit your screens tonight or tomorrow, but here's a little intro in the meantime!
Tagged by no one, tagging anyone who wants to play (as long as you tag me so I can read your stuff too)!
As soon as Buck ends the night with his record-breaking auction sale, the 118's table disperses so everyone can go pay their debts. They can still hear Harry bickering with Athena a few tables away when Eddie turns to Maddie and Chimney sheepishly. "So," he starts, scratching the back of his head. "Any chance we can figure out some sort of payment plan for this? I can put about two-thirds of the cost down now, but it'll take me a pay period or two to come up with the rest." Chim exhales a long breath. "Jeez. Would going on a fake date with a rich woman really be that bad?" "Yes," Eddie replies without hesitation. "Dressing up to impress some stranger, making small talk while she tries to get in my pants instead of getting to know me..." he shivers. "Like I said. Worth every penny to buy the time back for myself." "But you didn't. Not yet, at least," Maddie points out. Then, with a sly little smirk: "Technically, until you pay me back in full, your time is mine." Eddie laughs; half at her, and half at Buck a couple tables behind her, surrounded by tiny old ladies with big purses of yarn. "First of all, I wouldn't charge you to drink wine with me, Maddie. We already do that whenever Buck drags Chris and I to your family dinners. And second of all, your husband would make me scrub the crapper every day for the rest of my career," he adds a faux Gerrard flourish that's eerily similar to his current captain's. "You'd be surprised." Chim says, and when Eddie refocuses his attention, his face instantly heats at Chim's intense gaze. "Maddie knows she can do whatever she wants with whomever she pleases. I trust her to come home with me at night. Or the next morning," he shrugs and smacks his gum. "For someone who only grew up with siblings intermittently, he's very good at sharing," Maddie praises, running a hand through his hair. Eddie swallows, and finds he has to work to shove the ball of anxiety down his tightened throat. "What is this?" he manages to rasp. "An offer." Maddie says. "Which you are more than welcome to turn down. We don't want to make you uncomfortable." Her gaze flits around the room to make sure no one's watching, and she leans in over the table. "I know this could be a little...messy, given he's your boss. We're not interested in pushing anyone into anything." He should stop things right there. She's right — even without hearing their plan, he has a good idea of what it entails. Done the wrong way, it could ruin everything, push Eddie out of the 118 just when it feels like home again. And maybe it's just the high of the night, the adrenaline from his earlier fight still fading and the ego boost of the bidding war, but something in him wants to know. "What's your offer?"

118 Camping Trip Fic. I've just started cuz my self imposed writing ban didn't last a week cuz I have no self restraint
The car door slams shut as Eddie grabs the last of their gear. He carries the bags over to where the rest of the team is gathered in the middle of the clearing, and drops them down by his feet with a soft Thump as they make contact with the grass. They're currently preparing to set up camp in Angeles National Forest. Chimney had informed them a couple months back that he was going to be implementing yearly team building retreats for the 118. The idea had been met with tentative excitement — that is, until Chimney had asked for ideas and Harry had enthusiastically suggested camping, and much to everyone else's chagrin, Chimney had loved that idea. Which leads them to now, standing in the middle of a clearing, sun beaming down on the backs of their necks and bugs buzzing around the bags of food and anyone that had remembered to put on suncream before the journey.

teaser/tidbit tuesday (a little early)
another teaser for words never said in a story that didn't end because I'm still powering through it. Currently at 6.2k and still so much more to add. but I wanted to share this:
-
“Tommy,” he sobs. “Please!”
“I know, Evan,” he answers back, tears running freely now. “I know, I’m so sorry.”
Evan shakes his head, looking back over at Tommy. “I can’t-…I need you.”
“I’m right here, sweetheart,” Tommy tells him.
Evan shakes his head coughing again. Each cough makes blood spurt from the wound in his side more, not to mention what comes out of his mouth.
“N-need you to s-say it,” he stammers. “Need to know it’s true.”
Tommy shakes his head again, and this time he sobs out loud. One hand stays pressed firmly into Evan’s side next to the jagged metal as the other is in his hair and he leans forward, pressing his forehead to Evan’s.
“I love you so fucking much, Evan Buckley,” he states tearfully. “So fucking in love with you. So don’t leave me right now, okay? Don’t be someone else I’m not enough for.”
“More than enough for me,” Evan whispers back before coughing again, his eyes closed. “Always more than enough. Love you through the universe and across the skies.”
“Today, tomorrow, the rest of my life,” Tommy responds, his voice wobbling. Evan’s breathing is audible now, like rails. When he opens his eyes, Evan’s are still closed. “No, come on baby. Stay with me. Stay alive, Evan.”
The younger man doesn’t respond, and his chest keeps rising and falling, but the breaths are obviously shallower. Tommy presses harder on the wound in Evan’s side, and he lets out a small groan, his eyes fluttering but not opening.
“S-still here,” he whispers. “Love you. Love you so much, T…Tommy.”
“I love you, Evan,” Tommy replies, his voice shaking.
