DBT SKILLS: Teflon Mind...
Teflon Mind is coating your brain in Teflon so that unwanted thoughts slide straight out, as an egg from a Teflon pan (as described by Marsha Linehan).
When unpleasant thoughts come into your mind, label them as thoughts, and let them go again...
“By using Teflon Mind we actually ‘re-wire’ our brains away from unwanted thoughts; research has shown that due to the neuroplasticity of the brain, such changes, which include an increase in cortical thickness, can last over the long term.”
(From The Mindfulness Solution For Intense Emotions)
Practice: Thought. Label thought. Let it go.
I've realized I over analyze things so much. However, I met some pretty cool people tonight. Hung out with some amazing people I don't get to see too often. I need to start looking on the brighter side of things. I need to remember not to focus so much on the dark spots. What I think is under my control. In one ear and out the other.
