THE FROGS IS A GOOD MUSICAL! IT JUST HAS ITS FLAWS LIKE ANYTHING ELSE! THE 2004 REVISED PRODUCTION WAS A VALID REACTION TO THE CONTEMPORARY SOCIOPOLITICAL AND CULTURAL CLIMATE! NATHAN LANE DID NOTHING (too) WRONG! #templeofshame #I'd also say listen to Ariadne and try not to cry but maybe that one's just me #also I feel like def it would be weird to put on the 2004 version in the present day without somehow incorporating its historical context #or even just updating it for today #bc that's what it's all about! society changes but the stories of the past will still resonate BUT we still have to keep the current in mind #and we cannot just take past culture and put it directly into today and looking backwards UNCRITICALLY isn't possible or helpful #BUT we can still learn things and it is still relevant in some ways #well I guess that's not totally what it's about but like its own content and structure do relate directly to how it should/could exist now
