“So the most important thing to know about these three is that they’re all categorically insane. They’ve all known each other across at least some of their numerous different past lives and afterlives, but the lives they’re living in these books are the first ones where they’ve all been alive at the same time. Some of them remember their past lives (and the romantic encounters therein) and some of them do not. This, predictably, causes problems (four full books of them!). The reason they’re all alive at the same time this time around is because one of them volunteered to reincarnate and either save or destroy the world (the prophecies are unclear, but they’ll definitely be doing one of those two things) and the other two refused to let him do it alone. As in, it cannot be emphasized enough how much they would not have volunteered for this if he hadn’t done it first. There’s also a fourth guy who’s supposed to be helping them with this saving/ending the world business, but he wisely decided to avoid the drama and steer clear of their whole disaster relationship situation and instead faithfully record all their jealous arguments and misunderstandings and angst-ridden love confessions and inadvisable blowjobs for the world (a.k.a us the readers but also literally. the fantasy world that they live in) to enjoy. They’re easily the best-written canon poly trio I’ve ever come across, in addition to existing in one of the best fantasy books I’ve ever read. No one is doing it like them, no one will ever do it like them, they are inimitable”

These two dudes of the same age hate each other, but one of them is explicitly and openly interested in the other. What does the other guy think? Idk he refuses to unpack those feelings. Anyways, 300 pages in, I'm finally stating to make sense of their convoluted family tree. acod au where kihrin and surdyeh go to eamithon with morea. most of the events still happen (though maybe not in order) except morea is also there and instead of the throuple of kihrin/s’arric janel/c’indrol and teraeth/atrin they become a four person polycule.

except, again, morea’s just kinda there. she doesn’t have any power, doesn’t have a noble title, she frees herself eventually but she doesn’t get any of the cool god-powers the others have, she’s just a nice cute girl that the others were like “must protec and love”
