At Night

At night and underneath new light,

The neighbored moon now shines on me.

I walk in nature, nearing home.

But sounds were gnawing at my neck.

Nocturnal noises ever nigh.

They nestled niches, knowing now

Where I was -- No, where next I'd be.

But these were native normal sounds.

I need not fear Her natural state,

But someone -- something neared my nest.

It gnashed and gnarled, but never moved.

I could not budge, nor nudge my eyes.

Identity is a queer thing.

When I define who I will be,

Someone defines myself at me—

Brown and white, or purple and pink,

I am the shades they will not see.

Rhythmless River

winding down toward the delta, where

Water curls into rushing wades.

Take me with you, rhythmless stream,

away from murky, amber waves,

To dance in Beatless, battered, dreams,

Where silty Salt deposited
