I'm working on a few more cross-stitch bookmark designs (with actual charts and tutorial this time) for Aro Week.
(And, yes, the orange is way too bright. One day I'll figure out the perfect colours for the sunset flag, I swear!)

[image description: a collection of cross-stitch patches in allosexual aromantic--green, light green, white, yellow and gold--and finished with hand-embroidered edges. Patches include pineapples, dragons, hearts, rainbows, square and zigzag flags, arrows and the words "alloaro", "allosexual" and "pride".]
Because my main project for @aggressivelyarospec's Aggressively Arospectacular is all about the aromantic flag, I thought I'd add some yellow and gold to proceedings with a photo of some of the allo-aro cross-stitch patches I've made over the years.
I do have more: these are just the patches I have yet to attach to my backpack and jacket. Is it more fun to sew the patches then it is to sew the patches onto something else? Absolutely!

"ableism isn't a form of ignorance.
it's a normalized and lethal kind of hate that allows even otherwise marginalized people to feel inherently superior to someone, so it persists."

[id: a Facebook post. The initial post reads: “By the logic that says a fetus has the right to commandeer a non-consenting person's uterus ('A Child Will Die If You Don't Give Them Part Of Your Body'), any children's hospital that experiences a blood shortage should have the right to nab you off the street and take your blood by force“
First comment: “wOmEn JuSt ShOuLdN’t HaVe SeX iF tHeY dOn’T wAnT tO gEt PrEgNaNt” Well Jeremy, you shouldn’t have set foot outdoors within two miles of a hospital if you wanted to keep those extra 2-3 pints of blood! Make better choices!!
Second comment: “My blood’s not even viable for donation, I have tattoos/a blood disease!” Some fetuses aren’t viable for life! Some people don’t have the physical/financial/psychological capacity to survive a pregnancy, let alone parenthood! The fact that taking your blood will harm you and help no one is an acceptable sacrifice in the interest of preserving our right to harvest your bodily fluids whenever we feel like it. Think of the children!
Third comment: “You can just give the baby up for adoption!” And you don’t actually need all your blood now, do you Jeremy! Look, we’re giving you a single fig newton and a complimentary mini bottle of water! All better, you have nothing to complain about. I’m sure whatever you were planning to do with the time it took us to kidnap you, take you to our facility and drain your blood couldn’t have been that important. (Oh? You were about to give the most important presentation of your career? Your boss just texted you to tell you you’re fired? Not our problem! Your fault for setting foot on the street outside that Panera. Do you think you’re entitled to paninis without consequence? Get over it, Jeremy. A few hours is nothing compared to the nine months it takes to carry a baby to term.)
