HELLO STEPH!!!! I"M HERE TO GIVE YOU MY DAILY PISSED-AT-MOFTIS RANT! Why was it necessary for "When I'm gone, I know what you two can become." -- LIKE WHAT PLATONIC EXPLAINATION IS BEHIND THAT SHIT!?!?!?!?!?
*SNORTS* Your guess is as good as mine. That whole montage wasn't TERRIBLE, until Mary suddenly is narrating it, which makes no fucking sense. Oof.
hi steph ! how are you holding up ? If my memory is correct, I think that you told us that one of your favourite episode is the abominable bride. But did you tell us one of your least favourite ? And if not which one (of course) ? Personally, I think it would be the Empty Hearse for me
Hey Nonny!
Ahhh, I could be better, honestly. But I'm on a 5 day weekend right now so hoping to just feel better.
Yes, I did, on this post here :)
HANDS DOWN, didn't even have to think about it, The Final Problem. T6T and TLD, while not great episodes, they visually were beautiful and everyone did the best with what they had. TFP, however, I can't fucking watch it without the "John's TAB / Shot in the Head" lens on. The very last time I watched it, I watched it with the goggles on, and it only made sense that way. YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WATCH A SHOW LIKE THAT. The whole episode looks like garbage, looks like it was all filmed in one small soundstage on a budget, and just... really not a SHERLOCK episode. LITERALLY put any other character in there and it wouldn't matter. It was silly and nonsensical and it destroyed every character in the series who had main arcs going on. I don't care if there was a "secret plan" or whatever... A season finale should leave you wanting more, not in disbelief and disheartened. The best way to alienate your whole fanbase is to fucking veer completely off the cliff from your original narrative and introduce shit that makes no sense to the world building you made. TFP just topped it ALL off with erasing the whole point of TGG, erasing Molly's character development, turning the smartest character on the show into a whimpering dumbass, and *grits teeth* introduce an X-Men character as your big Shyamalan twist. It was dumb. I've seen YouTubers make half hour Reddit videos with more production and work than that entire episode was.
Anyway. Yeah, it was a disappointment, and what a way to end your series if, in fact, it is the last episode.
If the little girl on the plan was supposed to be Eurus then why is her “mummy” on the plane THIS woman?
She is clearly no way close to looking like her real mother i.e. Sherlock and Mycroft’s mom. She was taken away to Sherrinford at a young age but she still has her childhood memories so she hasn’t forgotten her family members (clearly) and how they look.
I’ve seen meta highlighting how the girl on the plane is different from the other child Eurus and Moffat answered it by saying something in the lines of it is her imagination and doesn’t have to be how she looked in her childhood, or something like that. That also doesn’t make any sense.
Also there is no “papa”.
Seemed more like John mirror to me since his father was either not there since early childhood or his relationship with his father was not good. Plus the mother’s and the girl’s hair are brownish blond. (Even the other child Eurus has blond hair.) Her white and black striped dress. But I don’t know.
Eurus doesn’t make any sense to me, if she is supposed to be taken at face value. The god of the east wind Eurus is male and they named their girl child that? This is far too much of a digression from ACD stories, which I don’t mind as long it makes sense! Making a mad sister into a super villain and then saying almost the whole freaking series was kinda based on her actions?? Sherlock, John, Mycroft, Moriarty were all dancing around all these episodes because of Eurus? Like who cares about her and her childish whims?! Were they all on TD-12 when they wrote it? Why not just name the show Eurus?
And saying that - the man Sherlock is today is his memory of Eurus - like wtf? How? Clearly, he is nothing like her.
Anyway, point I’m trying to make is that TFP doesn’t make any sense. Thank you.
Hi lovely, me again! So I never watched The Final Problem cause I saw the tumblr spoilers before I had access to the episode, and I was appalled by what I heard so decided if I didn’t watch it I could pretend it didn’t happen 😂 I was wondering, do you think it’s worth me watching it? Should I finally watch that final episode? Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions :) Thank you for your time 💗
Hi Lovely!!!
SORRY FOR THE DELAY IN A REPLY I’M GARBAGE!!
Ahhhh, well, this is honestly up to you; it’s not a good episode at all and you won’t miss anything because it really does nothing with the plot. But, you can watch it if you want to see what all the shitposting is about, LOL.
For me, the only way I can watch it these days is if I use this theory here or John’s TAB as the basis to what’s happening. It makes a lot more sense than the surface reading, LOL.
Let us know how it goes, LOL <3
I have VERY MANY SEVERAL problems with tfp, but this one line is really up there for me: MRS HOLMES (offscreen): You were always the grown-up. YOU’RE TELLING YOUR KID THIS????? IT DOESN’T MATTER THAT HE’S AN ADULT, YOU’RE THE PARENT. DON’T PLACE THE BURDEN OF ONE OF YOUR OTHER KIDS FATE ONTO ONE OF YOUR OTHER, ARGUABLY MORE EMOTIONAL, KIDS. THIS IS YOUR JOB!!! PLEASE STOP PARENTIFYING YOUR CHILDREN. I just have a lot of feelings about parentification and placing responsibilities onto your kids.
Hey Nonny!
Oh, yeah, that totally rubbed me the wrong way too, mainly because the WHOLE THING felt so OOC for the entire cast, but yeah, it really made the Holmes’ look like terrible parents in contradiction to their characters in S3. It’s just… ugh. Gross. I feel ya, Nonny. S4 was a gong show, but TFP was a dumpsterfire.
Sorry, had to jump in!
“skumringkatt added: Actually, it would make sense if Redbeard had been a dog and Euros drowned him, since a missing dog would not lead to any sort of investigation like a missing child would HAVE to do. And Sherlock might have been told that the dog was put down as a milder version of the truth, and might still have been traumatized by its death, as many sensitive small kids might be. There is nothing incomprehensible about that, while the child in the well scenario was just absurd! How do you hush up something like that, and how do you keep it out of the press? Even if you are Mycroft Holmes and crossdressing Uncle Rudy ….“
Just to add that creepy small child drowning an animal is usually first step on journey to creepy adult (Eurus), so much more in line with the narrative a medical professional (John) might tell himself to fill in memory gaps while undergoing some TFP-induced dream or psychological distress.

Yes, agreed. I’ve long held the belief that TFP is John’s hallucination, and it makes sense for some stuff like this to leak in as a way to explain why people are the way they are in his head. Though I more think that each character and event / object is a metaphor for someone / thing else, but I like this observation, Roby :)
[1/2]Hi Steph. I absolutely love your blog. You're always so kind to everyone, I think Moftiss should learn a thing or two from you. So anyway, before I start ranting about them, I'll get to the point. I am a big Game of Thrones fan and I love watching reactions and discussions on YT. So recently, I discovered that one of the channels I am watching also did Sherlock reactions. I started with their TFP reaction because I decided I wouldn't watch any of their other reactions if they'd liked TFP.
[2/2]Now I maybe wrong, but I think, when it comes to Sherlock, these guys are casuals. Anyway, the first thing that they said that hit me like a train was why didn’t they hype TFP up more. The way it seems like a series finale and the way they hyped up the entire S4, one would expect them to hype up the last episode to high heavens. But they didn’t. What do you think? P.S.They disliked TFP and the whole Eurus being sadistic because no one hugged her and thought The Hug was very intimate XD
Hi Nonny!
Firstly, thank you for your kind words about my blog! They always mean so much to me and I’m glad I provide a place where people can come to be happy! Secondly, aww, well, I’m definitely not screen-writer material, but I just write about what I and others see and interpret it and if it turns out better than what we got, so be it. Thirdly, it’s always interesting to me to hear what casuals / the general audience say about the series post-S4.
The fact that they never really hyped up TFP as the finale also twigged at me too – if it was indeed the final episode, why did they not promote it as such? People think it’s the last episode because of the finale-feel of the end of TFP, because it is the first E3 to end without a cliffhanger. To be fair though, the episode DID leak and no one noticed it until SUE HERSELF brought attention to it, followed up by a BBC NEWS REPORT ON IT, meanwhile a cease and desist was put out for ONE promo photo that spoiled NOTHING (seemingly…) when it leaked only a few weeks before. So. *shrugs* I’m not sure what to make of that except “something’s fucky”.
Anyway, yeah, I understand the point you’re making, and it’s one of the reasons I don’t think the series is done, along with the fact that there is evidence of BBC already having commissioned S5 even before S4 was filmed, so there’s that. It’s the exact same song and dance that Mofftiss do EVERY hiatus, toy with people by saying “maybe / maybe not” when there is clearly evidence to the contrary, so honestly right now I’m taking Moffat’s flip-floppiness with a grain of salt. Plus, they would have SAID it was the last episode, I feel as well: they would have wanted maximum viewership for their final episode, so why not advertise it. They promoted the hell out of a LEAKED EPISODE more than they promoted the effing episode itself. It all seems fishy to me.
The question is, though, will Ben and Martin want to do S5? Martin seemed genuinely troubled by what they had done for S4 if reading his body language in interviews is anything to go by, plus with how badly they destroyed his character. I think it’s safe to say that if Martin doesn’t do it, I don’t think Ben will be on board. But, I’m no expert, and I don’t know what goes on in anyone’s mind. *shrugs*
That said, if it was really the end, I think, like you and a hundred thousand other people, they would have promoted it as a finale. But that’s just me.
Anyway, would you be able to share with us who reviewed the season? I’m sure there are some of my followers who are curious now :)
