everyone worried about a third Top Gun potentially ruining Maverick’s storyline while I’m just excited to have Miles Teller with a mustache and a cocky blonde pilot played by Glen Powell back on my screen

Had a dream last night that they released the preview of Top Gun 3. It followed the same track as the first two- Mav lost Goose, then Carole, and then we learn that Rooster was killed after the second movie.

Jake shows up at Mav’s place with Rooster’s child (the same age Bradley was when Goose died). He’s crying and asking Mav how he’s supposed to get through this- how he lives with the guilt (Jake was babysitting when Bradley and his wife were killed in a car wreck).

Mav takes them both in and repeats life all over again. He is terrified of the future for this new little Bradshaw boy. He has retired so he stays with the kid while Jake teaches at Top Gun.

They fall in love somewhere around the time Jake gets called up for a secret mission, where he gets shot down and captured for a brief period of time. His return prompts him and Mav to declare their feelings, and they continue on raising the child.

This leaves the door open for another sequel of course. Kid is obviously drawn to the Navy, and Jake and Mav are firmly against it, but Mav learned his lesson the first time on that end.

I think this was prompted by the way Glen and Miles talk about Tom and the next movie. Miles is all yeah, I know the guy- he’s crazy. Love to do the movie… while Glen just gushes, oh my god, Tom is amazing and I love him and I want to be just like him and if I need him I can call him anytime 😊
