For this moodboard, I was playing with themes of sunlight and darkness/the dark of the night, ground and sky and the connection between the two through the horizon with a nod to their connections to Kansas, and healing their inner child. I was also thinking that despite their differences, those difference don't matter. It's friendship, it's companionship, kinship in being clones, and love.

I like to think there's this horrible moment where, right after kon has very gently turned Thad down, Thad starts to imitate Bart again. It's small things at first, just a bit more in his stance and his walking and his voice, barely noticable unless you've spent a good portion of your existence with these boys, studying and knowing the ways that they're different.

But Thad isn't what Kon wants. And Thad knows what Kon wants instead. Everyone knows what Kon wants. It's so obvious how head-over-heels he is for Bart.

And Thad can be that. It's not like he doesn't know how. He can be Bart if that's how he gets to have Kon look at him the way he wishes he would. He doesn't want to be all of Bart, he's his own person, and he knows that becoming Bart again would just drive Kon away in disgust (the whole clone rights thing), but he can be more like him! And maybe that'll work!

And it's horrifying because Thad is willing to literally rip himself apart for this man he's put on the highest pedestal, and is ignoring everything Kon cares about in the process, and it's just so awful until Thad finally just quits trying because not once do Kon's eyes waver from Bart, who still hasn't even noticed.

Life works in mysterious ways and falling in love with your best friend's clone certainly is one of those things that knocks a funny-bone completely numb. Were they enemies to lovers? Or were they just awkward friends to lovers? Doesn't matter, somehow they got there and Kon is always missing shirts because Thad keeps stealing them.
