Fours and Fives/Mental Breakdown
Excerpt from FOOLS' PARADISE: THE GODDESS OF NUMBER FIVE, Chapter 9: MINERVA THE GODDESS
According to Artemis, who occasionally wrote romance novels under the penname Violet Tsirblou, there were two reasons to kneel before a girl (and, in reality, there were three, but the last one she preferred not to dwell on... blasted puberty!), and this one wasn't to ask: "Will you marry me?", but...
...Minerva, forgive me. The words were on the tip of Artemis’ tongue, and yet she hesitated. There were things that went beyond forgiveness. Once upon a time, she and Minerva might have been on the same level, but not anymore. Not when Artemis had seen her own genius slip through her fingers and welcomed madness in its place. It was their mutual genius that had brought them together, the knowledge that Artemis could hold a conversation with Minerva and vice versa that had made them reach out to each other despite their initial misunderstandings. And Artemis had to admit that Minerva was far more charismatic, far more comfortable around people than she ever could hope to be. Life hadn't forced her to choose that path, as it had been for her; one just had to look at her, absolute confidence hidden behind a kind facade, to realize that she could have been anything she wanted: politician, diplomat, model, athlete, or just enjoying her heiress life, all paths were open to Minerva. But without her own genius, what was of Artemis? Nothing. A girl born in the wrong body, full of money that Minerva had never shown the slightest interest in (aurum potestas est, right, Father? Ha ha ha); if they had still been strangers, she could have proven her capabilities to her, shown her she had a place in his life, but that moment had passed.
And so Artemis averted her gaze and whispered a far more attainable wish: “Hit me.”
bit of a deep cut for the shibollowers
I have a small little head-canon that Orion wasn’t just you know something random that popped up due to the Atlantis complex. (This headcanon also ties into the trans Artemis fowl headcanon).
I feel like Orion was Artemis’ “perfect version” of himself. Orion was Artemis’ one male companion in Greek Mythology. Now I don’t assume that Artemis hates his name, but I do think that maybe he wished his name was more masculine, at times. (I don’t know how to put it into words well 😭.) I also feel like Artemis most definitely has used the name Orion at some point on a spare account somewhere, if not on most social media accounts he as. (Artemis definitely is the type of guy to have like 10 spare accounts)
guys the year is 2025! multiple of five!!!! Ends in five!!!
according to the laws of artemis fowl that is great news! I love my life 😄
