I’ve been thinking about Chamberlain’s role in Age of Resistance. I like it a lot and there’s some great moments in it, like his conversation with SkekMal about hunting and “You. Took. My. Seat!” Ruining everything by snacking on a locksnake.

The major problem I have with it is that it’s the only arc SkekSil ever gets. Disgrace and reclaiming power. It’s his movie arc and his AOR arc. He only gets the disgrace part in Power of the Dark Crystal but if you count him showing up rent free as Kensho’s shoulder devil in Beneath the Dark Crystal then maybe that counts too.

Aside from SkekUng assuming SkekVar’s duties as the military Skeksis, the Skeksis (who don’t die!) look pretty consistent between AOR and the movie. They’re already in the titles we know. And that’s understandable from an iconic perspective. If you’re primarily familiar with the movie, you know the Skeksis primarily by their titles!

But in another AOR, in another time, it could have been cool for SkekSil’s arc to be about his rise to Emperor’s favorite from a lowlier role. And for another Skeksis to be shown as Chamberlain in this earlier time.

Maybe SkekSil would be the Skeksis Singer to parallel UrSol being the Chanter. The Skeksis Diva? Something like? I saw a post that suggested that Dark Heart was SilSol so SkekSil becoming a singer would fit.

Plus given the Emperor’s taste in music, it’d be funny to give SkekSil a song number.

SkekSil the Singer would be very underestimated as an entertainer but with ambitions that come to head when the Gelfling crisis starts boiling up

Maybe as the Singer, Sil would be subordinate to the Ritual Master. His eavesdroppery and ferreting out secrets propping up SkekZok’s claims of divination among the other Skeksis.

Maybe then SkekSil would start whispering secrets to SkekVar to pit him against Zok. Ingratiating himself as SkekVar’s friend and passing ideas to the less imaginative Var to pass off as his own. Eventually screwing both of them and the Skeksis in general to secure his own rise.

Still doing several things that help the protagonists in the way AOR SkekSil did but some of it to intentionally sabotage other Skeksis

But yeah. Age of Resistance as SkekSil’s rise to power, at the eventual expense of the Skesis. Triumphantly taking on his iconic robes as the Gelfling clans unite against the Skeksis.

UrSol the Chanter

According to all known laws of the universe, there is no way a Mystic should be able to flirt. But bOY HOWDY does UrSol not only break this rule, he smashes it like a thin pane of glass and proceeds to walk over it to give you a flower.

He is SkekSil’s other half after all, and he’s called the Chanter for crying out loud! There’s no way he wouldn’t be good with his words!

He’s very subtle with his flirting, so if you happen to be on the denser side, you may not pick up on his advances at first. Key word here being ‘at first’. Because the thing about UrSol is that he adapts. So if you don’t realize that he’s flirting with you at first, you definitely will within the next hour or so.

Whether or not he’s the one to make the first move is really up in the air. But if he was, he’d probably do something lowkey but still really sweet and romantic. Maybe even... a song??

If you made the first move, he’d be very receptive to it, responding with a little smile and the softest kiss on the cheek you’ve ever had. That is, before promptly turning the situation around on you and reducing you into a red flustered mess. Because although we love him, UrSol is still a flirty BASTARD who canNOT BE STOPPED.

His voice always has a sort of sing-song lilt to it, even when he’s not singing. It's incredibly calming to listen to, which makes UrSol the perfect partner for someone with anxiety or trouble sleeping. It’s like hearing a tuneless lullaby or rain pattering against a roof, it’ll just wash over you and make you feel so much more relaxed and at ease.

Despite his flirty nature, you can expect lots of quiet time when you’re in a relationship with him. He’s still a mystic after all, and he tends to appreciate the little things in life. His ideal ‘date’ with you would consist of curling up with one another underneath the night sky and exchanging quiet words and chaste touches with one another.

PDA really isn’t that big of a deal to him. You love each other, so he sees no reason why he should have to hold back from touching you among others. Though if you’re uncomfortable with the idea, he’d definitely respect that.

He’d just be such a soft and caring partner, though never dishonest. He’d tell you if something was wrong, and fully expects you to do the same. How are you supposed to fix things if you never tell each other?

Just,, little touches, quiet whispers of praise, and soft and pleasant humming are only a few of the things you can expect if you’re in a relationship with UrSol.

Tbh the 'squeaking defeats choking' hc came from a small AU I have where the crystal somwhow de-ages SkekSil(only him) to like baby form & now Zok is basically given the task of parent while SkekTek figures out different ways(his age will slowly get bumped up/not a normal aging process) to bring Sil back up adult age. Thought a teenage SkekSil squeaking was cute in my head so yeah.

Lmao just when @glitterfilledtrashcan told me their HC/AU/joke that UrSol and SkekSil were much younger and babies who grew up to a little shit and every Skeksis regretting not to have drowned him as a Skekling or something
