I love WSQKsync but let’s be honest, it was a marketing campaign that Duffers let someone else write and make. The music lines up, ads line up, etc. bc someone who loved the show was on the team that created The Squawk radio player. The marketing and merchandising is rarely given input by show runners or writers or directors or anyone, so it was a separate group. Someone at Netflix cared for this show very deeply and it shows.

Not gonna lie, the documentary releasing at 3 AM has killed just about any remaining hope I had. Because if they’re really going a meta route, wouldn’t they want as many eyeballs live at the same time? And if it’s just a normal doc, then that’s just it, and it really doesn’t seem like it would make sense for anything to happen after that. So since there weren’t any signs anything was happening today and nothing was announced at the Golden Globes, I really don’t see how CG can be real anymore…

Yes, I totally understand your perspective and you are absolutely entitled to have this opinion! I personally believed the doc would contain more plot holes, inconsistencies and weird details that would play into the already bizarre press tour around Season 5. So far, I have been proven right, I think, judging from the reaction here on Tumblr, it has been successful rage bait. I MIGHT watch the doc myself and take some notes, but I have better things to do this week hahaha.

I have a pinned post with more of my thoughts, including how the Squawk still has broadcasts scheduled for the 17th of January, which might imply that more ST content is to come.

At the end of the day, we are debating the following:

Did the entire Stranger Things production team become dumb and incompetent after S5 Vol 1?

Has the subtext and meta we are observing been planted by the Stranger Things writers and PR on purpose?

I'm still inclined to believe the latter based on the body of evidence, but I respect anyone who doesn't feel the same.

I already had a suspicion the documentary would be a nothing burger (at first glance). I'm personally not going to watch it, but I would love to know from people if they've seen any clues, plot holes and inconsistencies in it! I'm convinced the writers of the show didn't suspect bylers and especially the GA to figure out what was wrong with the finale (Vecna winning and pulling the strings), so they had a doc planned with further hints. What do you guys think? I understand if you're tired of the game they're playing, same same.

There are still radio broadcasts scheduled from the Squawk, throughout the day on the 12th AND 17th. I wonder what will happen on the 17th? Edit: a couple of hours after I and other people on Tumblr posted about the Squawk's additional broadcasts, WSQK got wiped from the app, which could mean nothing.

I had another prediction that new content could potentially be released on the 25th of January, following the pattern of Vol 1 (November 25th) and Vol 2 (December 25th). BUT, honestly, that's as much as I am willing to play along. If nothing is released by then, I am cutting my losses!

Conformitygate is 100% real! What we found as a community are NOT coincidences. So, either the ending is supposed to be an extremely bitter pill to swallow or there will be a more satisfying resolution in the future.
