not Buck getting hit in the head because he lost it when Chris was threatened, while Eddie just kept standing there holding all his rage in him like the repressed king he is.... the DUALITY of them is so sexy
I LIVE for this
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde except Mr. Utterson is stuck in a loop where he tries to figure out Jekyll's connection with Hyde with the loop break being the true end in the book (Hyde ends up on the floor, quite dead)
In other versions he might have saved Jekyll, or got Hyde locked up, y'know, stuff like that.
I just want happy queer females in media more often??? Before the storm spoilers and Life is Strange spoilers
The last episode of before the storm reminded me of how often queer women characters are used for sad tropes. It bummed me out a lot in the original life is strange too. I’ll preface this by saying: yes I knew Rachel was going to die because I played the first game. I’m also just using life is strange and bts as examples because it’s fresh on my mind and I’m sure it’s on a lot of minds right now.
But honestly it’s this constant stream of women who love women dying somehow, or having their relationship cut off by cheating, or some other sad sack reason to write another queer lady out of a story. In all honesty I kind of expected worse with the endings though, like Rachel cutting Chloe off after finding out the whole truth level sadness but they stayed tame on that. And I’m definitely grateful for them giving some pure Chloe and Rachel moments as well but that seemed half hearted in Hell is Empty as compared to the other episodes too.
Is it really too hard to ask for media that shows happy lesbians though? Because it seems to be. I don’t even watch supergirl or the 100 but they got a lot of flack for doing what every other show seems to do with queer women which is essentially writing them off after they are used for a minor relationship plot point. But it always seems like male characters can just hop into a girl’s life and then they’re soulmates and endgame and the male character gets another 6 seasons or gets to live the whole game. If the same thing happens with a queer character, especially a woman who likes women, it seems that the relationship gets scrutinized a lot more by fandoms as well but that’s probably another topic on its own.
What I’m getting at is that female queer characters almost never get a full fleshed out story or life without tragedy. And a lot of people are sick of it too, which is absolutely why so many people are sick of seeing the Jefferson’s dark room photo set going around. I’m sure almost everyone who played before the storm knew what happened during life is strange because we played both games. We experienced the same thing but the little tidbit of Chloe’s missed calls and camera clicks was just another reminder that queer women can’t be happy in media for whatever **story** reason. Life is strange was built on this premise from the get go with how well it conveys hard topics and delivers strong emotions. I understand that it isn’t going to be happy and I’ve made my peace with that. It’s done, but not without being another peace of media that showcases a way overused trope. I think it’s understanable that people, myself included, are sick of it.
Why can’t we have fun lesbian stories? Adventures into fantasy worlds where queer women just kind of *exist* too? Science fiction lesbians that travel through space. Queer lady damsel in distresses and their love in shining armor. Lesbians that met at an animal shelter that have way too many cats and dogs to handle. Lesbians with kids. Lesbian politicians. Lesbian super heroes. Lesbians that play sports. Nerdy lesbians that play games and make jokes together. These are just some of the queer women we could expand on without the need for tragedy.
I would be really grateful if this trope just died(no pun intended). It’s just so overused that I’ve gotten sick of it plaguing already good queer stories with needless drama and heartache at the expense of queer fans. It’s not to say quit making things sad, but take a break from killing or destroying queer female relationships entirely for a plot point or to make your story more edgy. Queer women are human. We are more complex than just being in the relationship we’re in. If the only drama you can make up is that someone died or they broke up forever and always then maybe you need to take a new writers course and start being more original with your work. Make more happy lesbians for fucks sake. We deserve better.
guys how do we feel about sex pollen?
