Why do you think Nicki is still haunting Lestat and what does it mean for Lestat? Do you think there’s more to their story and it will be revealed?
Hello! Well, I know as much as anyone, but here goes with what I feel about it so far.
As I see it, halluciNicki is clearly not an actual ghost, but a manifestation of Lestat's own psyche, in a similar way dreamStat was for Louis in season two.
In writing songs at all, and in reading Louis' book, Lestat is already digging around in his past, even before Gabriella returns to him after so long, and Daniel tries desperately to extract any scrap of truth from Lestat.
Lestat has clearly not told the full truth about Nicolas. I mean, even what he did tell was both to Daniel alone, and moments kept cutting away. It is even more interesting to me that Lestat showed Nicolas' story to Daniel using the mind gift, yet even here he did not visually show Nicki's death.
But even to lie, Lestat had to tap into his real memories... and perhaps some of those memories unintentionally came out when he had to lie to make up a story about his mother's experience as a vampire... And if Lestat is actually telling something very close to Nicolas' true story there, then it makes sense for Nicki's "ghost" to appear in a more active way in this moment.
What is the main purpose of halluciNicki for Lestat?
I think it could be one of two things, or, perhaps, both.
Ghost Nicolas could be there to, eventually open Lestat back up to his true memories and feelings about Nicolas and perhaps to a need to a actually feel those feelings, or even share them to process them
Ghost Nicolas could be here to help free Lestat from the psychological clutches of Gabriella. To eventually lead him to a place where he can address the full harm done unto him, process it, free himself, and thus, Lestat could psychologically then be in... what... although it would be a very fragile place at first, it would eventually be in a more secure place to truly love Louis.
I mean, these thoughts are just off the top of my head! I don't know. I hope halluciNicki is both of these things. Because I do want to feel Nicolas before S3 is out - I mean - truly feel him.
And I would love for halluciNicki to also help free Lestat from Gabriella... and then, Louis will be there in real life to pick up the pieces.
Well... that was an interesting theory I just constructed literally as I typed it! hehehehehe!
