Kaigaku has BPD? (Theory post and will affect his base yandere headcanons)

But the disclaimer of his possible mental illness got out of hand, so this will be a theory thing of his possible mental illness instead! Please enjoy, and yes, this will help with context in his base yandere headcanons in the next chapter!]

Disclaimer: This is just a theory in which I show the comparisons that he could have a possible mental illness, and it has not been confirmed to be canon. This is just for fun and not to be taken seriously at all! Simping for fictional characters and yanderes is fine! Just do not be illegal or gross about it! You know who you are! As someone who suffers from similar things to Kaigaku, I can say with certainty that he most likely has at least one mental illness. The reason this is the case, he shows his flashback with Zenitsu, but never with his parents, and if he remembers his parents, you think they would have been shown. Meanng Kaigaku was homeless as a very small child, maybe even before he could remember his parents. Kaigaku was probably born in the 1900s, maybe the 1910s. This is also in Japan, so he was looked down upon really hard. My theory is that he suffers from BPD.
Yes, Borderline Personality Disorder is Genetic, but can also come from environmental factors, such as:
Childhood trauma, such as physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, is a significant risk factor.
Neglect, inconsistent parenting, and peer rejection can also contribute.
Stressful life events, such as loss or separation, can trigger BPD symptoms.
Now look at Kaigaku. He has flashbacks of drinking from puddles and being an outcast in society, and in the manga, he stole things to get money for food for the other orphans, and the orphans rejected him because he should not have done that; he was an orphan, so he did not have parents to parent him, again he was an was a orphan which goes to the, neglect, stressful life events (demons/being a demon slayer), loss and separation and various other things)
Also, you don't go from being a small child living on the streets to being some who is fully mentally functioning.
Think of it like this, the brain is developing for 25 years. If you go through trauma or abuse or anything like this in those early years, you are going to come out a little fucked up.
Now, why do I think he has BPD?
He might not have it, but there are a few huge warning signs he COULD!
Unstable and intense relationships that alternate between idealization and devaluation
(His relationship with the Former Thunder Hashira)
Difficulty controlling anger, leading to outbursts or fights
(His Relationship with Zenitsu)
Black-and-white thinking, viewing people or situations as all good or all bad
(His whole thing in the first Infinity Castle movie, where he sees the people who he values and the people he does not, in his lose words, there are the people who value him (Good) and those who don't (bad))
Difficulty with identity and a sense of self
(He had this whole issue with being the next thunder master, and he then had conflict with it because he could never master the first form)
-The next two are a bit more specific but do happen with people who have BPD-
It is their way or the highway
(In the flashbacks, he is shown that it is not going his way, and he takes it rather poorly and is like I want nothing to do with the person)
Taking things extremely personally
(This is from him having the Thunder Hashira say Zenitsu would be his co succsor with him. See, he took the whole Zenitsu being trained as a personal offense, and Zenitsu as a personal offense. Every time the master showed attention to him, it was like a personal attack. Even when he is dying, he thinks the new thunder breathing form was a move the former master only shared with Zenitsu, and that is why the thunder hashira favoured him more! In Kaigaku's words. These he saw as all purposely put against him.)
Thinking of oneself/He is ALWAYS Right/Have it his way
(Now this one is a stretch, but a lot of people with BPD struggle with this; it is where they feel they are right, have to have the last say, and have it their way. This is somewhat shown in how he lives his life, but also how he became a demon, how he viewed his master and people around him, and more.)
All in all, it appears that he has a least some type of mental illness, which will affect how I write him because he clearly has some issues and is not just an evil guy. I wish more people would look into his character and background, because honestly, a lot of the demon slayers and demons have some type of mental illness going on.
Yes, he IS Evil by the choices he made to become a demon.
But he may not have made those choices if he got the help he needed, if he were born in modern day, where he could have been treated for mental illness, or even prevented him from getting this possible mental illness in the first place.
