better days
“Gradually, I’m forced to accept who I am. A badly burned girl with no wings. With no fire. And no sister.”
i’m not okay
The fact that the Hunger Games begins with the foreshadowing of Prim being gone will haunt me until the day I die
Haymitch finding it impossible to ditch Lou Lou despite knowing that he should. She latches onto him and he just becomes her protector until the end where she dies in his arms.
Katniss finding it impossible to ditch Rue despite knowing that she should. She also latches onto Katniss who becomes her protector until the end where she dies in her arms.
They both see their little siblings in the young girls by their side. They both know that their deaths are inevitable. They both die with injuries to their chests. Both Katniss and Haymitch delay the hovercraft from taking them.
Both girls are from district 11.
mockingjay and her duckling
Everyone says katniss was the spark for the rebellion, no prim was the spark. Katniss was the unstable teenager holding a gallon of gasoline with nothing to lose to save her sister
beetee helping to make the bomb that killed prim hits harder now that we know that his own son was returned to him from the games with only his bones left and that beetee never got to see his face again just like how katniss never got to see prim's face again and prim didn't even get to be buried properly.
Katniss’s namesake saved her after her father’s death; seeing the katniss at the lake, she recalled his words:
“As long as you can find yourself, you’ll never starve.” (The Hunger Games, Ch.4)
She found herself then, and was able to keep her little family afloat until her first Games.
Primrose’s namesake saved Katniss after the young girl’s death; seeing Peeta preparing to plant a memorial garden in Prim’s honour, Katniss regained the will to live.
“We seal the pages with salt water and promises to live well to make their deaths count.” (Mockingjay, Ch.27)
This time, Katniss chose to live on for Prim’s sake. And she had Peeta to thank for reminding her.
