Through It All

I see it in everything we shared—

the love that resonated in everything,

warming all the senses.

The words spoken,

the kindness shared,

all the little intimacies.

Music, poetry, time—

bonding us endlessly.

I always protected myself first,

letting fear get in the way

of the life we could live.

But now I start to see it calmly, rationally—

and once you reach that,

you believe.

You see past the intensity

and understand what love really means,

how it speaks to you through easy and hard.

It begins to feel safe, undefeated,

something you have faith in.

I don’t choose out of fear,

or out of potential loss.

I choose because I see it through thick and thin,

that you could be my person,

that we could get through anything.

I’d love your heart

because I see who you are,

and you see who I am.

It doesn’t scare me anymore.

I believe in us—

I trust in the love—

and that is something no one can take away.
