I truly love this series. I got all the ARCs from Inkitt. Kaden is the big bad wolf or so everyone is taught to believe but he isn't. His mate, Mara, is from the most innocent of packs and has no idea about the world she lives in. He kidnaps her to play a piece in his brother, Coen's plan to harm Coen's fated mate who has rejected him. Mara doesn't do it and meets many other people who help her understand the world a little better. After she comes into heat she is saved by an unusual ally who may not be an ally afterall. I was a little surprised that I liked this book so much. After reading Alpha Landon I really expected to hate Kaden but in fact I loved him. He was so unlike the legend of him and so willing to do anything for his family and his mate, even kill his own brother. Mara is aggravating in her innocence but being that she is from Purity Pack it makes sense that she does not know about mating or sex. I was happy when she grew somewhat of a backbone and defended herself as best she could. This book was just as well written as Landon and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

This series has different covers for the formats, I just happen to like this cover the best.

Fall Away series by Penelope Douglas This series was quite fun to read. It is a romance that I would consider new adult but with adult situations. I read Bully, Until You, Aflame, and Adrenaline. There are other books in the series that are more about the other characters. Bully focused on Tate and Jared from Tate's perspective. Until You is the same story from Jared's perspective. Tate and Jared were friends growing up but one summer his life changed. As a result he started treating Tate terribly and made her life horrible. She leaves to be a foreign echange student and when she comes back she is different, more bold and less likely to take his bullying. Jared has never stopped loving her but does not know how to show it. Both stories follow their path back to each other and to the love/lust that they cannot deny. Along the way they face many stumbling blocks, more than a few bad apples and a huge scandal but come out stronger because of them.   Aflame is a novella that catches us up on what happened after high school.  It tells us their breakup story and the path back to each other as stronger adults. Also *spoiler* our babies have babies, like EVERYONE has a baby or several.   Adrenaline is a collection of outtakes and conversations between characters. We get a inside view of their thoughts and lives. There were a few scenes that I am glad she left out becasue they irritated me. The story is fun to read and the characters were likeable. I was mad at Tate in several chapters of each book but she redeemed herself at each turn. Jared was my favorite character and I loved him all the way thru. The side characters, who get their own stories, are also fabulous. Ms.Douglas really made all the characters lovable and relateable. The realness of the storyline was refreshing. It is not often that an author will break characters up so that they can grow as individuals. Usually we get unrealistic journeys with no bumps or hiccups. I may at some time go back and read the other stories but I feel satisfied with the characters at the end of Aflame. All Penelope Douglas's book are on Amazon and Adrenaline is on Wattpad.

Just Juliet

Lena is AMAZING

I loved Loving Lakyn so I had to read Just Juliet. This is not Juliet's story, it's Lena's. Lena takes much the same journey as Scott, although her's is less rocky. I wasn't entirely sure I was going to like Lena but I do. I also like Juliet much more now that she is clean and less self-destructive. AND OF COURSE MORE Lakyn and Scott. I love them so much. I could read so many books about them. Scott was so great to Lena and it seemed obvious to me that he and Lena would stay friends after high school. Lena and Juliet having to be apart made me sad but they both were able to grow and understand themselves better and I hope that when they met again they will have a better relationship. The wedding in the epilogue made me SO HAPPY. I could picture the whole thing and loved it. I would recommend these 2 books to anyone not just people interested in books about LGBT teens.

Loving Lakyn

Messed up Kid with Messed up Family and Friends, But I Love Him

Everybody is Messed so Deal with It. Lakyn is an abused neglected gay suicidal teen who attempts to kill himself and is them rescued/adopted by his uncle away from his abusive parents. But his uncle is still mourning his aunt and so is his out of control cousin. Then Lakyn falls in love with a popular boy who is still in the closet and spirals out of control with the help of his cousin and school bullies. But this has a happy ending. I loved Lakyn and Scott. It was obvious from the beginning that they were going to mean something to each other, even if neither knew what. Juliet on the other hand I was less than impressed with for most of the book. This isn't her story since she has her own book but we see so little of her other than the destructive part that its hard to like her. Scott, I loved, but it was obvious that his parents and social standing were going to get in the way of his relationship with Lakyn. Poor Uncle Ben and Rick, they have so many things to deal with taking care of 3 damaged teens. Uncle Ben taking in Lakyn was amazing but allowing Scott to live there until his mom came around was beyond great. Uncle Ben being blind to Juliet's problems was frustrating but I can see how her issues would get dismissed because she appeared normal. Rick giving up his independence to take care of Lakyn was also great. I couldn't imagine giving up my life to take care of someone else, but that is what family is supposed to do. I have never had any of the issues that the author tackles but the way she took them on is both engaging and insightful. The list of triggers at the beginning was annoying but I guess that is some social hand holding authors have to do now. Everyone in this book has problems and the ways they cope are not always good but that's life. We all have issues and we all deal with them. Teens are the worst at coping since they don't have the years of experience necessary, USUALLY. I hate that Lakyn does. I am glad and amazed that Reagan wrote a book about bullying and didn't use social media other than texting. So many stories today use social media just like real teens as part of the story. Overall this was not a book that I thought I would like or would normally even pick up but I loved it. The characters are likable and relate-able and there is enough good times to out way the bad ones. And just a little naughty sex. There is lots of drug use which I am not fond of but is a typical teen coping mechanism.

Being from central Texas I know lots of stories about Enchanted Rock. The most popular is the wendigo or skin walker, which is similar to a werewolf. I love this story and the change of main character from female to male. Friederike being the small town weirdo and Rain (Aaron) being the big city smart ass is the complete opposite of the usual. I like Freddie in the end but not much at the beginning. I am not a fan of 'because I said so' as an answer for weird shit. I loved Rain so much, but he moved too fast for me. I felt like going from 'she's hot' to 'lets turn me into a werewolf so we can be together' was way TOO FAST. The other characters were alright and I liked all the good guys. And of course I hated all the bad guys. I would like to see a sequel to this story since I loved the epilogue.
