Sometimes I think about how it’s an odd choice for Megatron to choose Damus of all bots to try and fuck with Optimus. (I mean they probably should have expanded on that dynamic if they really wanted that line to mean something) Because for all intents and purposes, we don’t really get the sense that they were close friends. Like yeah Optimus cares about his allies but it’s a weird angle for Megatron to go for because there’s probably bots that were higher up on list of OP’s best friends he could have gone for other than Damus. Because Damus himself isn’t shown to be that close to Optimus either all things considered. They are friends but not like best buddies.

But that is only if we take Megatron’s word as he was trying to hurt OP’s feelings. Because if it was to hurt the Autobot cause, then it starts making more sense as Megatron took someone who would have been insanely powerful asset on the Autobot side. Yet this would mean Megatron had to have seen Damus use his outlier before taking an interest which is also very interesting in the way Megatron has never seen Damus/Tarn as person but always as a weapon or tool that he can use and later just discard and decommission when Tarn gets inconvenient for him.

I think we also have to consider that with Roller mysteriously out of the picture Damus was the easiest to disappear

I think the fact that they weren't even that close compared to some of the others makes it worse, tbh
