I desperately need the fic in which Mensah, Ratthi, Seth, Martyn, and Iris all sit down and compare notes on their two idiots doing the platonic friendship equivalent of a mating dance at each other, 2/3 of which the other is completely missing because SecUnit is traumatized and Perihelion is poorly socialized and they're both jerks. Just... the conversation about this would be so funny.

What if Rumi had made a deal with Gwi Ma, like Jinu?

This is mostly me having a random thought and wanting to share it.

In K-pop Demon Hunters, Rumi is the child of a human and a demon and it is clear that in previous scripts, that aspect of her backstory would have been explored more, something that we might see in future projects of the franchise.

However, with what we have now this aspect of her character remains unused and I kind of wanted to see how different the movie would have been of Rumi had been turning into a demon the same way Jinu did, by making a deal with Gwi Ma.

In my hypothetical AU(??) Rumi would have made the deal when she was a child, still an orphan being raised by Celine. With Celine wanting to find the next couple of girls to join Rumi in demon hunting (and the fact that she is emotionally unavailable) Rumi would have been pretty lonely. So Gwi Ma targets her, in an attempt to play the long game, and leave the future trio of hunters one member down. So he offers her a family.

Rumi makes the deal and Celine suddenly manages to find two girls, Mira and Zoey, that over time become like sisters to Rumi.

This would have made it so that Rumi's transformation is forever tied to her hunter group, her family and her friends and it would have also made her more similar to Jinu.

This would obviously change a lot of things in the plot of the movie. Celine's dynamic with Rumi, for example, would have probably been a lot more hostile and toxic. Rumi would have maybe clung to Mira and Zoey even more, with them being her only family, with the reason for that also being why she might lose them. Or worse, get them hurt. I can imagine Rumi hastily jumping in the assist them, because she is afraid they would get injured or die.

And probably a myriad of other things that I can't think of right now.

Furthermore, it would have made Rumi's trust of Jinu feel a lot more understandable if they were in a similar situation for the same reason. It would have also been a way for Rumi to see what will happen to her if she doesn't hurry and turn the Honmoon gold.

I can also see a bigger reason for Mira and Zoey to forgive her later in the climax of the movie. Because at the end of the day Rumi asked for a family and that is what she got. She wanted to feel loved and she is loved.

Now I can see a plot hole somewhere here. Jinu could gradually hear Gwi Ma's voice, before he was sent to the underworld and the only reason I can imagine that Rumi wouldn't, is her connection to the Honmoon protecting her. So her transformation to a demon would also be more gradual, with it taking for her to reach adulthood, to have patterns covering ber entire arms, and Gwi Ma having to send the Saja Boys to speed things up.

Thoughts, anyone????

Draw/Write in Different Styles It's good practice for visual artists to understand shape language and color theory. When it comes to writers, it can help your characters' personality be more unique if you lean into Shakespeare for some and Tomi Adeyemi for others. Suggestions for visual: Winx, FNAF, Poppy Playtime, Strawberry Shortcake. Danny Phantom, Spongebob, Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss, Sanrio, Pucca, Monster High

Write Your Own Fanfic If you're not already, this is a good way to get out ideas that don't work in canon (due to story line, it being too ooc, etc) but you still want to explore.

Make an Animal Companion Turn your OC into an companion or make an animal to be their companion.

Role/Personality Swap Based on Glee: S3 Ep20 “Props”, but it has been done MANY times in media. Swap heroes with villains to see how similar or different they really are.

Do a High School!AU If you're writing adults, it can be fun to imagine what they would look like when they were even more immature than they are now. If your high school has uniforms, how would the character try to skirt around the rules to customize their look? Would they even try?

Plan a Collab Possible brands include: Build a Bear, Bath & Body Works, Dunkin’ Donuts, Crubl Cookies, any fast food place, Squishmallow, Squishable, Selkie, etc.

Make a Coloring Book What scenes would you like to come to life? Draw or sketch them out, or find others' pages that look similar to your imagination. Don't forget to give proper credit to original artists if you choose to post it somewhere!

Design Merch Did somebody say Marketable PlushieTM? For artists, it's a lesson or quiz on how to simplify a design. For writers, it can help you pay more attention to details even with the most mundane objects. Kind of a part 2 to Number 10

Design a Logo/Signature How would your OC write their name? Sloppy vs thoughtful writing. A visual thought exercise.

What fruit is your OC? This can kind of go with Number 3, but this one is more about taste and texture. This is a fun research rabbit hole to go down if you're feeling stuck.

Design a nail set based on your OC. Or just find nail sets that are already made that reflect your OCs if you don't wanna do all the detail work.

Give them powers or take them away (Same universe) How would your OC change if they received the magic/ability to save a person they lost or get revenge? What if they lost the only thing that made them special?

Make a Playlist pt2 This is just adding on to what Stormy's video suggested. I think it'd be fun if you made a playlist from the POV of an OC making it for another character. Option 2: A ship playlist. Extra challenge: Using only a single genre, especially one you're unfamiliar with could lead to new discoveries.

Make a Tarot/Oracle Card Depict couples as The Lovers, of the resident introvert as The Hermit. Maybe make your own deck completely from scratch!

Compare Heights I tend to use Hikaku . It's just fun to see the variety and helps with writing movement and interactions.

Create an in-universe Guide. I've done this with Wings a Flutter in Canva. It's also sort of the whole purpose of my authorial blog.

I love Nesta but the IC did think negatively of her initially to the point that Mor etc made her feel like this bond was unfair to Cass, that he deserved better. Azriel was mostly nice to her but he also had the extra heavy bag thing. So how do you think he truly felt about her as a person and as Cass' mate and how would he have felt about her being his mate instead?

This is true. But they don’t remember that 🤣 at this point in the story she has assimilated. Rhys still bombastic side eyes her but that’s Cassian’s mate now.

I truthfully don’t think he thought about her at all in the beginning. She was just Feyre’s mean ass sister who was now their problem cause she was turned fae. His eyes were glued in on Elain, he didn’t have a thought to spare for Nesta.

As Cassian’s mate, he probably thought it was funny. Cassian gets the mean sister? Good luck with that buddy. Still the essence of nonchalantness. He shows us that much when she gets tossed into the blood rite and he’s like “she’s fine you’ll know if she isn’t”.

If she had been his mate? He would have been feral (not in a horny way but eh maybe in a horny way). All that subtle attention to Elain would have been directed to Nesta. Rhys hates Nesta because his bond to Feyre and his personality. Az doesn’t have that bond to Feyre- he probably would have looked past the transgressions to get to know Nesta.

@/theladyofbloodshed has a beautiful fic called the closest to heaven I’ll ever be it’s basically how I see Nesta/Az if they had been mates. It’s self indulgent on my part but I adore the dynamic in it.

Hey when’s the last time you backed your favorite character in a corner

Hey when’s the last time you thought about how your favorite character would react to failing and failing and failing again and again and again

Hey when’s the last time you did a thought experiment about how many times someone (your favorite character) can lose something until they finally snap

Hey consider the last time you thought about if your favorite character would be fight flight or freeze

Hey what put them there what made them like that

Hey can they look at themselves in the mirror and see hope? Hey what would make them keep the mirror fogged? Hey, hey. Hey. Answer me this. What would make them break the mirror? Throw it out?

Hey. As a little treat, why don’t you go ahead and make them bleed? Emotionally, physically, it’s up to you. Which one would matter the most to them?

A thought about Vampires:

If a Vampire had some sort of foreign object in their system, like say a non-silver bullet that somehow managed to pierce the skin and embed itself in their flesh, do you think they'd have to take off their clothes and use a mirror to find the exact spot the intrusion is in? And before you ask, they'd remove their clothes for the same reason their using a mirror to find the bullet, Vampires have no reflection but their clothes are not a part of the Vampire so they would in fact reflect, thus obscuring the view. Basically I'm asking if Vampires use mirrors to preform self surgery.

I should probably also mention this thought exercise came about after thinking about the image where the count from sesame street looks into the mirror and sees a hand looking back at him, causing him distress. <picture related>

if sjm really wanted rhys to be the most powerful but also wanted him to be the ultimate victim ever looking over his shoulder, she should’ve made large uses of his powers debilitating and even just containing it leaves him in constant pain. i’m talking head-splitting vomit inducing pain after he mists people, or passing out for several days when he wipes a lot of people’s memories. it would’ve been so interesting so see a character that’s objectively op but then their body cannot handle such power. plus, his supposed cunning would’ve been more believable because he wouldn’t be able to rely on his powers so much, he’d have to be a good diplomat because if things resolve to violence, broski’s fainting. plus plus, the whole change takes time thing would’ve been…. reasonable. (still wouldn’t take 500 years tho).
