a lot of people assume psychosis hallucinations are super intense all-consuming horror movie shit like the memes about the hat man or always horrible debilitating things that make you dangerous to be around

but in my experience 95% of my hallucinations are getting spooked by very clearly hearing someone knocking on my door or calling my name from another room or hearing footsteps walking behind me which are "just" my brain recreating the horror of an abusive childhood

i *have* gotten the "bugs crawling all over me" hallucination once or twice though and yeah that one is exactly as terrible horrible as it sounds AUGH

media and pop culture hypes up psychosis a lot as The Worst That Can Happen out of sanism, so even when you try and filter that cultural bias out you still assume it's based on something

when, no, psychosis is actually very simple: it's just hyperactive pattern matching. it's your brain's signal-to-noise ratio being off balance, it's seeing images in random static. it's not always this special uniquely big thing, it's in fact quite mundane a lot of the time.

no one is immune to psychosis, it's not purely the realm of the insane. anyone is one bad night of sleep or one bad case of food poisoning or one bad fever away from being just like me on my worst days.

and this, indeed, is why solidarity with the insane is so important: you, yes you too, are just one bad day from joining us, and no perceptions of being a "temporarily embarrassed sane person" will save you from the oppression of the psychiatric institution.

The sad thing about this is that a lot of Greek people are so desensitised to the way Hollywood and the media treat our culture, that this shit doesn't even register as problematic anymore.

I went to see Nolan's Odyssey the other day with my friends and they acted like I was overreacting, by how upset I was at some of the changes they made to a story, that runs so deep into our culture, it and the Iliad are considered marks of a significant turning point in our history.

That, people that got actually offended by this movie, were being unreasonable.

This movie has great production value. But, in order for the production value to have been so high, greek people had to pay for it. Literally. This movie was, at least partially, funded by our taxes! And this shit is what we got!

And not only is the movie ignorant at best and offensive at worst, you know Nolan didn't give a fuck about greeks and greek culture, when the movie didn't tour in Greece! The didn't even come here!

They leached off of us! Leached off our culture, our money, our identity, and then fucked off!

also keep in mind that shame + guilt are not conducive to growing as a person. when it comes to "checking yourself" it should be a non-judgemental process. it's not about flagellating yourself for every bad thought or trying to purify your mind of all corruption. it's only when acknowledging your own racist thoughts doesn't fill you with dread that you can really progress past the white guilt of it all.

I need to stop forgetting to upload my sketches...

A few days ago, I bought a new controller and yesterday I got to testing it out. I tested it on Hollow Knight and for some reason it was not responding right. Sometimes I would move and some times I wouldn't.

At first, I thought something was wrong with my controller. That I had done something wrong in setting it up, that it needed an upgrade, maybe that there was just something wrong with the specific model, that I had missed somehow. I spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong with it!

And as I was lamenting my wasted money, I thought "Let's try a different game... Just to be sure...". So I opened Sonic Mania and that one worked fine! Hollow Knight was just being a bitch!!!

So yeah, my controller is fine, I just need to configure it's Hollow Knight settings on Steam.

Now, get your ass kicked idiot!!

I took a bit of a break after the 35 Days of Sonic Challenge and am now working on the TADC animatic.

So here's a little doodle of Hisuian Zoroark I did as a warm up sketch (since I pulled it today in TCG Pocket).

Not totally happy with it, but then again I am never all that satisfied with how I draw Zoroark (which is a shame because it is one of my favorite Pokemon).

But the only way to success is through failure, so expect more Zoroark drawings until I am satisfied with it.

I think headcanoning Blaze as lesbian isn't the most revolutionary idea, but, hey, no need to fix what ain't broke, right?

I didn't plan to give Blaze a completely different pose than the sketch I made last year, but I did unconsciously give that same pose to my own coming out post a couple of weeks ago and I didn't want to do it again so soon.

Plus my friends liked this pose more, anyway. So win-win.

I might be able to squeeze another one of this series in here, before Pride Month is officially over.
