Todoroki's Motive (RATS AU Lore)
Alright we are finally talking about Todoroki and his motive. As much as I love Todoroki, I barely talk about him when it comes to this AU. Probably because I made his plotline way more complicated than it should be. Today is the day that changes!

Shoto's motive in this AU is another pretty simple one, self-preservation. I know this sounds wild. Let me explain!
After Todoroki's fight with Izuku, Shoto is left pondering a lot about his own quirk and family situation. Just like in canon. The main difference here is that this event has also gotten Shoto to think about power as a concept.
Just like with Midoriya these things that Shoto is struggling with end up getting taken advantage of by the HPSC. In fact, it's even worse because his dad is directly involved in this whole situation.
As it turns out, Iida actually met with Dabi. Dabi just gave Iida a letter to relay to Endeavor. This poor autistic boy did not see any way this could be a bad thing, so he went along with it. Iida is a good Samaritan; he just assumed the Dabi was a fan of Endeavor and wanted to help.
As you can imagine, the HPSC blew this a little bit out of proportion and cast Iida in a negative light. Due to the way this played out, Todoroki has a bit of a moral dilemma. Either he takes his chances defending a man he has never met in a situation but is clearly innocent or participate this conspiracy and protect his own power at a cost. (I heavily oversimplifying this especially how Endeavor plays into Todoroki's decision.)
Once again, just like with Midoriya, he chose the latter. Todoroki I am so sorry I had to put through this moral trolley problem.
Ironically, even though Todoroki partially did this to not be associated with his dad, this one decision set him on the path to becoming a man might be like him.
I hope you liked this little glimpse into Shoto's lore. Like I said before this is a MASSIVE oversimplification of his motive, but I am happy with it. I love Shoto in this AU. He's great, he's a bit awful but I love him.
Fun fact about Dabi/Touya: The Count of Monte Cristo character that I cast him as is Napoleon Bonaparte. Like the actual guy from history. Just thought I'd mention that.
