Boy, that feels disconcertingly familiar.

Theeeeeere it is. This article was deeply eye-opening for me, giving a more solidified description to a feeling I was already beginning to understand but not quite name. It really does feel like infiltratory tactics to not only uplift and allow someone whose abusive behaviour is apparent within the movement to be given a leadership position, whether by direct organization or just de facto "popularity contest" style valuation, and I am so glad to not only not be alone in this feeling but to have it addressed by someone who is just as versed in the history of the Black Panther Party and the ways in which it failed the women whose work it depended on.

I'm also just. Comforted by the way this article ends. Not by seeking some punitive retribution or encouraging that mindset to proliferate in our movements and communities, but instead by offering the hopeful sentiment that we can strengthen our movements by acknowledging the harm that bad actors commit in our spaces and refusing to continue platforming them, with their merit by representing a marginalized group ceasing to be more important than the harm they have done and the people they have done that harm to.

Whiteout and Thoughtful honestly gives me the vibes of two neurodivergent teens who were isolated and/or discriminated by their peers-

But when they found each other, they felt like they finally found someone who truly knows and understands them & how their mind works, as well as being interested in their love for their special interests.

Also they give me the vibes that they’ll become a neurodivergent couple that would build a small business and/or a small museum for the artwork that they love to create (with each other).
