haha another svsss au idea. idk if this has been done but au where shen yuan owns a tavern inn that somehow attracts every major important character in pidw (and maybe forms a harem)

shen yuan transmigrates into the child of a tavern innkeeper. eventually, said owner passes away leading to shen yuan inheriting the tavern. he knows he got isekai-d into a xianxia world so learns how to cultivate in his spare time growing up. but shen yuan does eventually learns he's in pidw through talking with customers and trading information through his knowledge of pidw beasts, plants and general knowledge of the world. this somehow causes him to become an information broker of sorts that cultivators like to visit.

one day shen yuan meets tianxi + zhuzhi-lang when the three enters his tavern, looking for a place to stay for the night. shen yuan bonds with them over time with tianxi and zhuzhi-lang occasionally hanging out at his tavern. but as it gets closer to the day lao gongzhu plans his ambush on tianlang-jun, shen yuan hears whispers of it through his customers and his info network. he warns tianxi, hoping to give his friends as well as luo binghe a happier ending. su xiyan admits all the crazy stuff happening with lao gongzhu and tianxi + zhuzhi-lang decides to go back to the demon realm permanently.

the three of them still correspond with shen yuan through covert messenger demons (and occasionally a disguised zhuzhi-lang would visit), with tianxi eventually having luo binghe and raising him. (lbh probably wouldn't be named lbh here but for convenience sakes Im going to use lbh)

years pass and shen yuan continues his life as full time tavern innkeeper, part time info broker. word of this tavern info broker gets back to shen qingqiu one day through his own spy brothel network. (by this point the Qing generation has just begun leading CQM) maybe he’s investigating something and shen yuan has the info he needs so the ladies at the brothel points him to shen yuan’s direction. shen qingqiu is suspicious of this shen yuan at first while shen yuan is freaking out over the scum villain being here and def has his own biases against sqq. before long though, jiuyuan do bond and grow to like each other, with shen yuan quickly becoming shen qingqiu’s top info gatherer.

one day, the town shen yuan lives in has a beast that’s been killing some of the people in it. shen yuan, being the only person in the entire town who has any sort of cultivation, willingly offers to deal with it. unfortunately, shen yuan’s cultivation isn’t strong enough so shen yuan sucks up his pride and writes to shen qingqiu, hoping CQM can help with this.

shen qingqiu unfortunately is away on another mission, so liu qingge is sent to help. shen yuan shares which beast is terrorizing the town and helps liu qingge defeat the beast, getting hurt in the process when he took a poison hit meant for liu qingge. liu qingge feels guilty about getting a civilian hurt while out on a night hunt so zooms back to qian cao, kidnaps mu qingfang and then flies back to the town under one day so that mu qingfang can treat shen yuan. during shen yuan’s healing process, he bonds with both mu qingfang and liu qingge. shen yuan offers to let them stay in his tavern for free since they had just helped him and his town but both peak lords refuse and pays anyways.

a week after the two peak lords left, mu qingfang returns to ask shen yuan for his help in tracking down a medicinal herb in the area as shen yuan kept blabbing about pidw's flora and fauna while healing. shen yuan is always up for tracking down a plant so eagerly helps mu qingfang find it. 

and a few weeks later, liu qingge returns with a monster part as a thank you gift for shen yuan after another night hunt for taking that blow. liu qingge was on his way back to cang qiong but decided to stop by shen yuan's inn first. shen yuan offhandedly mentions he's been trying to improve his cultivation and sword skills since the beast terrorized his town, to which liu qingge offers to help train shen yuan's sword skills since he isn't part of any sect.

this causes both mu qingfang and liu qingge to regularly visit shen yuan’s tavern alongside shen qingqiu who is very annoyed that his secret info broker is now being visited by his sect siblings. literally shen qingqiu comes back from his previously mentioned mission, only to run into liu qingge at the tavern’s entrance and begins hissing.

soon other peak lords grow curious about this tavern owner so they pester all three peak lords over it. shen yuan finds himself suddenly flooded with peak lords customers, especially since the town he's living in is super close by to cang qiong mountain and shen yuan is a treasure trove of information.

cue classic cumplane bickering when shen yuan eventually realizes shang qinghua is airplane. maybe shang qinghua has been hearing shen qingqiu, liu qingge and mu qingfang gatekeep this tavern infobroker. shang qinghua wanted to see what's up with this npc who somehow managed to calm down shen qingqiu a bit and decides to visit. shang qinghua probably outs himself when he mumbles something along the lines 'how did this become a harem novel but for the wrong character?'. and thus, shang qinghua quickly becomes another regular at shen yuan's tavern

one day, while shen yuan is cleaning some cups, luo binghe sits down in one of the tables which causes shen yuan to fanboy (in his mind) for a bit. luo binghe acts very much like the bold protagonist from pidw (he’s a combination of bingge and bingmei, but a bit more towards bingge if he wasn't traumatized tbh) 

luo binghe knew who shen yuan was through his parents obviously, and wanted to meet the guy who helped his family his entire life. bingyuan somehow gets roped into a night hunt and maybe shen yuan somehow gets without a cure a la canon style. luo binghe obvs offers to cure without a cure, but shen yuan is like huh!! you’re suppose to be a straight!! stallion protagonist!!?

soon luo binghe quickly becomes a regular too due to without a cure, and cleans shen yuan’s meridian’s regularly. he highkey starts crushing on shen yuan and even begins working part time at shen yuan's tavern as a chef despite shen yuan's initial protest that the crown prince of the demon realm really shouldn't be working at a lowly tavern.

when cang qiong learns that shen yuan has without a cure, they question him, very concerned over how the heck did he get poisoned with without a cure of all things-! none of the peak lords trusts shen yuan’s new part time chef at all. (except for shang qinghua who's honestly not surprised his cucumber bro managed to pull bingge into his harem and gave his family a happy ending)

liu qingge also helps to clean shen yuan’s meridians cause he doesn’t trust this luo binghe to do so while mu qingfang prescribes shen yuan with medicine and comes down to his tavern to give shen yuan a medical checkup at least once a month.

luo binghe continues to pester shen yuan about curing without a cure, even zhuzhi-lang begins doing the same but that only cause luo binghe to attack his cousin and the two almost destroys shen yuan’s tavern in the process.

behind the scenes tho, lao gongzhu has been trying to find a way to take down tianlang-jun and get su xiyan back for almost two decades now. he's been suspecting that someone leaked his plans to tianxi and helped the two lovers escape to the demon realm for years now. and all his investigation finally leads him to a small tavern innkeeper name shen yuan. he decides to head over to shen yuan's inn and kidnaps him to obviously politely ask him some questions about tianxi. lao gongzhu succeeds with the help of a few of his most trusted disciples.

unfortunately for him, he chose a day where luo binghe, zhuzhi-lang, some cang qiong mountain peak lords, and a few rogue cultivators that owe shen yuan a favor happen to be there for separate reasons.

Fake dating in reverse, Shen Yuan and Luo Binghe have a secret relationship hidden from their parents (Qijiu Shen Yuan's parents, both Peak Lords, both important symbols within the jianghu – and the established Emperor and Empress of the Demon Realm Binghe's parents)

So, both upset about something their respective son has done (idk), they decide to get their respective son engaged to someone they probably wouldn't tolerate to calm him down

So when the Bingyuan secret boyfriends find out about each other's engagements, they're... well, hilarious. It definitely wasn't what they expected, but somehow it was great! They won't have to elope or pay for their own wedding!

The problem is that now they have to pretend that they don't tolerate each other to make the story of the forced wedding "to teach them a lesson" a thing. After all, they're both sure their families' opinions of each other are so bad that it's the reason the engagement was made. If anyone from the Bingyuan proposed it, no one family would approve it

So they are really dating, engaged, and pretending they can't stand each other, and even hate each other, provoking each other, fighting, attacking–

And then they sneak off to secretly snog, apologize for being a bit rude, and continue attacking each other in... other creative ways wink wink

(Most likely: Yue Qingyuan and Su Xiyan know perfectly well that their children are dating and in love with each other. They are both waiting to see how long their theatrics last before they reveal themselves. Both allow their respective husbands to be melodramatic while silently preparing a perfect wedding)

Every time I see a post implying that Su Xiyan been a bad parent it makes me so mad. As far as I can tell, the arguments are always based on the fact that she doesn't seem "maternal" enough. She appears cold, serious, and primarily focused on cultivation, thus she does not fit the typical role of mother, and therefore... would neglect the child she was willing to die for???

Sadly, we only ever get outside perspectives on Su Xiyan in the novel, and from those glimpses, it's easy to read her as cold, but that's not supported by her actions! She was indulgent with Tianlang-jun from their first meeting, she cared about him enough to risk her standing in the cultivation world for the demon she fell in love with, she was unfailingly loyal to him, refusing to participate in the plot against him, and she wanted LBH. She loved TLJ and Binghe enough to sacrifice her life. She's clearly not cold at heart, and if she was willing to side against the cultivation world for her lover then I can't see her valuing her own power and pursuits over her loved ones.

Loving your child deeply isn't always enough to be a good parent, but assumption that a woman like Su Xiyan not only lacks the capability to be a good mother but would necessarily be neglect just feels misogynistic.

Binghe has two moms who sacrificed their own well-being for his and I see no reason to believe that SXY wouldn't have raised him with just as much love and care as the washer woman
