Serious ask time. Not sure if my ask makes sense but, to Rock and Paper, what are ways you support your brothers when they're having a tic attack?

Paper: I ALSO TRY TO CHECK UP ON HIM AFTER! AND IF HE NEEDS WATER FOR HIS THROAT, OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES!
((he throws pillows at Tac for him to put between himself and his hands, and tells him to put on his gloves he made him if he's not already wearing them.))
Scissors: learned not to give him my energy drinks a while ago...
Having to lock yourself in your bedroom during an extreme tic attack so you don’t hurt anyone or yourself is a feeling I wish I never had to fucking experience. I fucking hate this. Why does my brain have to work like this. Fuck.
I genuinely so scared and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to work again. I’m sobbing because I’m in so much pain. My tics last night caused me to disloacte my knee and I haven’t slept in like 3 days because they keep waking me up. I don’t know what to do.
I don’t see my new doctor until Wednesday but I can’t do this anymore. I don’t know how to make my brain feel better so it stops hurting me.
I don’t know what wrong with me. I’m so confused, and terrified, I can’t see half the time, I don’t think it’s safe for me to drive anymore. Whatever is wrong with me is genuinely ruining my life. I can’t barely even eat because I can’t stop moving to get food in my mouth, and the nerves in my stomach keep going off and making me vomit.
Every-time I’ve tried to speak today I can’t even finish a sentence before I lose my train of thought. I just want it to stop. I just wanna fucking normal! What did I do to deserve any of this?!? Why am I being punished, all I’ve ever wanted is for everyone to be happy!
My name is Alex and I've had Tourettes Syndrome for 4 years now. This post is how the condition currently affects me.
My tics affect almost every aspect of my day and bodily involuntary and voluntary functions.
(Blinking, Breathing, Drinking, Speaking, Thinking, Sitting, Walking, Cooking, Typing, Writing, etc)
TW:TICS ARE MENTIONED
Mornings and Nights:
I have a 30 - 1 hour grace period before my tics activate in the morning. It’s a slow gradual activation that starts with my muscles and eyes first. Vocal tics are the last to start.
I lay in bed and my legs start twisting at the ankles and flexing for extended periods of time. My legs will involuntarily straighten and hyperflex until they cramp. My lower body constantly contorts and twists.
I cannot lay still for extended periods of time due to the restless urges and the feeling of tic pressure building. It takes my body hours to fall asleep due to this and insomnia unless I take a prescribed sedative/muscle relaxant.
Afternoons & Evenings:
By this point my Tourettes is at full power. The difficulty to cook food and perform necessary daily tasks has increased significantly. Handling glass or sharp objects is dangerous for both myself and others. It requires extreme focus and muscle tension to avoid ticcing during this.
The Frequency of my tics are affected by activities, emotions, and energy levels. If I am unfocused my tics happen every 30 seconds - 1 minute.
If I’m doing an activity like gaming, writing, drawing, or singing it will activate hyperfocus. When I’m hyperfocused on an enjoyable activity my tics happen less often. I can go 1-3 minutes without ticcing.
Busy days with little time for self regulating pleasurable activities are the most painful days of my week. If the day is extremely spoon taxing the chance of having a tic attack increases drastically.
I have tics/tourettes and autism. I just had a tic attack. And omg it was fucking hell. I wish there was a thing like an app or device that could tell when you were having a lot of trouble with your tics. Maby it would start music, or something else that could ease you out of it. Bc i can't move and i get extremely sad and it hurts when it doesn't work, and i gotta do it over n over n over again. I need somwthing to try to interupt me. Ususally it's my mom, but that's not gonna work a lot of the time. When i have tic attacks it's like with anxiety, time doesn't work the same, and i can stay there for a hour. I need to be held down to reality
Hi 😌 how are your tics doing, these days? Are they worse during this heat?
Awww ty for asking! My tics are always going off when I get excited but I did have a tic attack yesterday! I don’t think I’ve thrashed around that much in awhile! I don’t know if the heat affects my tics very much but we’ll see!
