You are so kind, Lost!! I've watched my gf play it, and I am obsessed with the soundtrack and design. I'm planning on playing it very soon, and I'm starting in on making a Pamitha cosplay c:.
Aw, thank you. *blushing* I picked up the soundtrack the other day and I’ve been listening to it obsessively and bawling over “Bound Together.” I bet your Pamitha cosplay will be amazing and look forward to seeing it. (And good to hear from you!)

I bought Pyre on PS4 and it's waiting for me to have some free time to sit down with it. It looks like a game I want to savour and think about, and life has been... not conducive to that lately. But I am working on it!
Dammit, life, cooperate! I look forward to your thoughts when you play it, however long that takes.
fireferns replied to your photo “Pyre Flash Giveaway Pyre is on sale on Steam right now, and I thought...”
i actually bought pyre on the winter sale because of you (and another friend of mine) talking so much about it! and i started watching critical role recently, too, and i'm loving it, though it means about 90% of everything you post is blocked by ts since i'm avoiding spoilers!
Yup that would pretty much wipe out my blog. :D I actually block critical role too because I’m still not done with the original campaign (on #103), though I’ve mostly been risking it and clicking through because most posts right now are about the new one. Glad you’re enjoying it (and hope you enjoy Pyre)!
In terms of organizing and maintaining deadlines, using Sticky Notes on Windows helped A LOT. My homework has me on my laptop every day, so seeing what I have due right on display when I flip it open took away a lot of stress
@tiny-olive
Get a planner, go to office hours, make outlines for essays no matter how long they are, look into student subsidies/discounts for public transport, don't eat in your room, study outside of your dorm, and make study groups! Go to clubs! I can't tell you how lonely my first two years were because i didn't push myself to get out of my own space/comfort zone. It's gonna be uncomfortable in the moment but make the rest of your time at uni so much better.
I’m very much a planner person, so thankfully for me I’ve already bought a nice one for the fall! And a lot of people have been telling me about the benefits of not studying at home/in a dorm (I’ll be commuting and not living at the uni so for me it’s home) which is something I had noticed in high school (my focus was better at school) so I’ll be putting even more of an effort into studying mostly at school, now (i.e. staying later and going to the library or something). Thank you both for the advice!
Well, on the positive side, we are in our hotel room, which is quite pleasant and surrounded by good-looking places to eat which we’ll have to investigate shortly. On the less positive side, our luggage decided to stay in Las Vegas, doubtless to play the slots for a while. And we’re tired. But really, life is fine, and our luggage will hopefully run out of quarters and come join us eventually.

I am so sorry my new adopted state is treating you like an asshole. Where are y'all?!?! Because if you're in SoCal I would go to great lengths to say hi. :)
Sadly, you would have to go to very great lengths. We’re up in the Bay Area. (But Tumblr hi!) I don’t blame California for any of this. It was St. Louis that apparently broke our plane so it was hours late to Iowa, and, as noted above, our luggage’s gambling habit that parted it from us.
tiny-olive replied to your post “HALLO CALIFORNIA! And only 5 hours behind schedule…”
I'm sorry for your plight but also I laughed really hard
Oh good! I figure if I’m going to complain the least I can do is try to make it amusing. :)

that's what happens when women have so much freedom. they give up on flights!
Actually, it seemed like her husband/partner made the call to give up, which in retrospect is kinda telling...
ultramidge replied to your post “Hmm, how do answer replies on mobile?”
Tumblr mobile is strange and no one, especially not tumblr staff, understands it.
I was tagging that post and had typed “Tumblr mobile is” and Tumblr helpfully suggested that I might be trying for “Tumblr mobile is shit.” At least Tumblr apparently has some degree of self-knowledge...

Euuugh. That right there is why I always make sure to keep headphones and a loud song close at hand whenever I travel. Hope you guys have a good trip!
Words to live by (though in this case we wanted to be able to hear important announcements, which admittedly usually took the form of “the plane’s still in St. Louis and we don’t know what’s going on.”

No, San Jose, but the delays were all on the plane-supplying end.

you can use the reply bubble on your original post. It turns up here, with the other replies. Not quite as good as being able to make a brand new post, but workable!
I’d forgotten they added that functionality when they returned replies to us. Would people see those, though?

The worst part reading this is I bet that pharmacy is open now
I could literally have turned around when we got to the airport, driven the 2 hours home, filled the prescription, and still made it back in time. But of course they never say, “The flight will be delayed 4 hours, go about your business.” (To be fair, generally because they don’t know. I should note that all the Southwest people we dealt with today were clearly working very hard and doing their best to support all us travelers. I tried to express my appreciation of that. None of this was their fault.)

Voting, now that's all well and good, but these young girls today don't even want their husband telling them who to vote FOR!
I don’t even know. Then she started talking about how much happier she was since she got rid of all her possessions and I just tuned out and read Joy Cometh and was happier that way.
Thanks to everyone who said something supportive or sympathetic. I don’t think I got all of them in here because holy shit, this post is long enough already.
If I have a chance tomorrow, I’ll post my thoughts on Ken Liu’s Grace of Kings.
The food trucks up here ALL sell Taco in a Bag. I’d never heard of it before, but it’s really, really popular.
Did you hear that, Sci? The food trucks sell it. The food trucks.
I have to admit I’ve never actually seen it sold anywhere, like, I’ve only seen it done whilst camping/roadtripping. So that’s an interesting regional variation.

Sam! You’re from here, how have you never had Frito Pie?
I don’t eat fritos! And technically I’m not from Texas :D I did most of my growing-up in California, my folks moved to Texas after I left for college.
I mean I’ve seen Frito Pie, but I always assumed that was something served to you in a paper boat from Sonic.

i have never heard of this before but i will be a hero for introducing it to my family thank you
I want a full report :D
It’s interesting, you can kind of tell the non-Statesiders by their horrified reactions, except the Canadians (Kamaete I don’t know if you’re Canadian, you just had a good segue) who all want to put it in their faces immediately.
Which actually makes sense, it’s like Poutine’s trashiest cousin.

Scouts Canada (BC) here and we’ve done taco in a bag. We do it backwards by giving them a bag of salad & then adding taco meat, cheese, sauce, tortilla chips & other veggies. Way to sneak in more veggies as they’re limited in space for the add-ins.
That is devious and evil.
onlylonelyglory replied to your post: Informal Survey
Huh. Now that you described it I do know what that is, but I feel like no one ever uses the same term twice so I have to have it explained to me everytime. Also scouting makes me imagine Bucky eating bag nachos while surveilling a a HYDRA base.
YES. Sam must have introduced him to it. Probably he introduced Steve to it too, so he’s like, sitting there with two super soldiers, and all you can hear is crunching and the crinkle of mylar bags.

They’re call frito boats! Have you heard of/seen a baked potato bar? I had a coworker who loved frito boats so much, the chef of the restaurant we all worked at made a frito boat bar for her 30th birthday, complete with all possible trimmings.
I don’t have a witty response for this, I just think it’s fucking delightful :D
tiny-olive:
I have absolutely never heard of this. How would this work? Is the chili hot? Do you melt the cheese? Is it safe to put hot things in a plastic bag??
I’m from Washington and I have many questions about this.
It’s okay to put hot stuff in chip bags as long as it’s not SUPER SMOKIN’ HOT, I think. But my best answer is that apparently you need to visit Santa Fe:
lacylu42:
That’s Frito Pie, and theoretically it was invented at the Five and Dime in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The New Mexico version is usually a bag of Fritos, pinto beans, red chile, sometimes meat, and then toppings like cheese and onions. And you can still get it at the Five and Dime. And lo, it is delicious.
Can any mortal truly lay claim to the genius of the chili-on-chips-in-a-bag, though?

I thought about the situation some after I got your comment, and concluded that it probably wouldn’t worry me much if he were my surgeon either. But it’s my father, and I literally know nothing about the surgeon other than this story, and that makes it easier to fret.

Thank you so much! Again, he doesn’t seem too worried. (But my dad is a master of not seeming worried, no matter how worry-inducing the situation appears...)
I hope things only improve from here!! Be kind to yourself, and always hydrate!
Thank you! (And this is really good advice. A pretty common conversation around here goes something like:
Lost: Ugh, I feel lousy.
Clio: When was the last time you had something to drink?
Lost: Um...
Clio: Go drink things!
