This scene in Titans got to me so much.

Not because it's a symptom of an inaccurate adaptation of Jason, which it would be if it were genuinely true that he never so much as touched a book. What Dick says isn't true; Jason is shown reciting quotes from musicals.

Jason even willingly refers to himself as a thespian.

What it is a symptom of is the fact that Dick never truly got to know Jason before his death. Dick had no idea that Jason liked literature, theatre, plays, music; he fully bought Jason's facade of the overconfident, irreverent street kid who didn't give a shit about anyone or anything. And having him claim that Jason would never have read anything is a heart-wrenching way of showing that.

Spoilers below for rambling about Dragula Titans 2

Last episode was huge, and I loved the manic energy all the monsters had in the workroom, this is the kind of queer joy I love to see!

Straight away this was not my favourite theme but this was a great floorshow, Evah was so good as always, she has always been delivering 1000% every time she's on stage.

The boulets are correct about JayKay having such a glo-up, he's really exceptional and honestly I thought that in s5, I didn't give a fuck about the cardboard critique. JayKay delivers every single time on stage, I absolutely love the way he paints and uses shapes and colours in his face and in all his looks, he's just such a powerhouse.

I absolutely LOVED Cynthia's look, maybe my favourite visually of the night, the play of shiny vinyl with the eyes was really gorgeous and I loved her headpiece, it maybe would have been cool to see her reveal into a second face look, but the initial look was incredible and I'm sad to see her go!

Really disappointed for Jaharia, they have had such a good run and I really wanted them to punch it but the look was too simple, she needed some crazy embellishments and some kind of weapon like her Killer Doll look from s6

Abhora is... Abhora... and idk, the gag of seeing her lift up was INCREDIBLE, I seriously didn't know what I was looking at straight away and it was so effective, and I like the idea of evil Superman but yeah, it's been done so it didn't feel that exciting once that initial shock wore off - saying that, I am SO EXCITED to finally get to see them in a FINALE!! ONYL FOR THEM TO ONCE AGAIN FUCK THE FINALE FORMAT

I get that it's the Boulets show, they call the shots, maybe we don't get a a blood crowning yadda yadda... and seeing 4 looks from 4 incredible monsters WILL BE INCREDIBLE.

BUT

I just KNOW all of them had been saving their big finale concepts for literally years now, and not being too see those... particularly Abhora's... I am having a little baby tantrum. I needed to see Abhora's Glamour - I believe in her!! I wanted to see her Filth and Horror SO SO BAD

4 horsemen is great, yay, amazing, BUT PLEASE I JUST LOVE THE THREE FLOORSHOW TENATS SO MUCH I WILL NEVER BE SICK OF THEM

This is a great top 3, one of the best of the show. I wanted Evah to make top 3 in titans 1 and I still wish she had been over Victoria but its OK I'll get to see it now

And a quick side note about the hellbound showdown...

This is maybe the first time I felt production truly sinking their claws into shenanigans because I don't understand how Sigourney won over Blackberri. The only critique is that maybe Blackberri wasn't serving Super in supervillain, she was clearly comic inspired Ito spiral glory, and her make up and weapon were cool af and it was so visually appealing! And then sig is... wearing a black wig and dress with white contacts, and a janky prop held at her waist, with an alarm clock smacking her in the shins. Like she kills you with time? The hourglass running out for the hourglass monster I guess...

My main issue with Sig is that I can predict what she's going to wear every single runway, it's not surprising or elevated from her original run on s4 which I would argue was better, her killer clown was still her best look, but she's not a risk taker. It was the right choice to eliminate her last week, neither of her runway stages were very exciting, she didn't take anything further than a costume for rocky horror that you could see in any stage production- like look at the batshit stuff Cynthia brought out, look at JayKays fucking balls, and then it's a corset, vinyl dress, stockings. OK. You do you, but I don't have to think it's ground breaking. (Obligatory she's an incredible performer and she owns her stage and her aesthetic and she's 100% valid as a monster, I'm just not excited)

I know next week is going to be electric TV, and I hope Jaharia or Cynthia absolutely demolish the showdown because I would love to see what they do, particularly with how batshit Cynthia is when coming up with ideas

That being said I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH AND THIS IS WHY I KEEP PAYING FOR SHUDDER, GIVE ME S1 AND 2 BACK ASAP I WOULD BLEED FOR THIS SHOW AND THESE PERFORMERS.
