sirius from the very first day was walburga’s pride and joy, she loved him with her entire heart. her very own heir, and as he grew up this love only grew. sirius, who was extremely talented, and smart, and knew that his place was above others. who could be cruel when he wanted to, he reminded walburga of herself.
but then he went to hogwarts, and what at first were simple pranks that she hoped he would grow out of, turned into outright rebellion. her love for him began to twist into something dark and twisted. it became harsh words and brutal punishments.
sirius, who grows up with everything being handed to him, yet he knows it isn’t enough, and he knows it is superficial, weighing on him being the perfect heir. and he loves his mother, but he doesn’t think she’s a good person, yet he defends her, even when james looks uncomfortable and remus storms out of the room.
He loves her until it snaps, and he’s suddenly thrown out of his house. his house that he’s always known yet despised, a brother who hasn’t looked him in the eyes in years, even though he did everything for him, even though he was the sole reason he stayed so long. a mother that he once believed loved him yet is the cause of all his suffering. he knew this day was coming, in fact he wished for it, so why has it created an in unfixable ache in his heart?
Walburga, who curses her son as she blasts his face off the painting on the wall. foolish, ungrateful, blood traitor boy, she gave him everything, did she not? every punishment was for his best, how can he not see that? how can he not see her love? her hands are tainted with blood.
regulus, who watches from the corner. who looks like his brother yet is much more flawed. he does not have the same power, the same courage, yet he yearns for it, he’s yearned for it all his life, for what he sees as his mothers love, but sirius took all of it, and stole it from him. he is spiteful, he hates his brother with everything in him, for throwing everything away, but he’s grateful for this chance, even though he knows he will never escape the shadow that sirius cast infront of him.
regulus before he enters the cave. he still hates his brother, but he understands him now. he understands the grip of his mother’s love, it drowns him long before he ever enters that cave.
walburga dying soon after regulus’ death. of heartbreak.
sirius, his face on the front page of every magical newspaper. he has his mother’s sharp features, he thinks he has finally made her proud- a part of him always wanted that, didn’t it? everyone left will look at the picture and will say it was expected, that of course the black heir was nothing but an evil creature. they do not know that he is innocent, that he spent most of his life trying escape his family name, trying to be good, trying to cure himself of the cruelty that he inherited from his mother.
