Ortober Day 3: Fluffy/Scaly

todays prompt I just went with scaly so heres an older vee! this is my toh reverse au design of her but it can also just be a post canon one. in the reverse au vee is in the BI and part of the rebellion against belos! good for her

he does! He's one of the characters I wound up not swapping just because I didn't wanna deal with it. although now I'm thinking of ideas but that would be a seperate au entirely...

but belos is still around! hunter is around too he's in his 40s and is currently the longest lasting grimwalker! belos hasn't killed him yet there's also the emeperos ward! a mysterious girl who showed up in the castle 2 years ago. belos claims she was attacked by wild witches and he decided to take her in out of the kindness of his heart, and many believe the golden guard is training her to be his successor...

Please tell me about your toh reverse au!

Sure! It’s still very work in progress but I’ll summarize the main points

It all began with some ancestors from the Clawthorne family (Evelyn’s grandparents probably), who had a beef with a local seeress. The seeress then told them their whole family would be destroyed by wild, primordial magic, and the rise of the cursed soul would be the sign it had started.

Of course the family got sorta scared, because foreseeing in a magical world is taken in a more serious way than in non-magical ones, so they started gaining power and influence over the boiling isles in order to slowly start doing something with the wild magic problem (to get ready for the harbinger of their misfortune aka the cursed soul)

When Wittebros arrived, the Clawthornes already had some sort of a medieval-like city in control. In this au Philip accepted the isles as Caleb did and, while his elder brother was meeting with Evelyn and having all the romantic things, Pip straight up went discovering and studying the place and its secrets.

One day Evelyn’s parents put up a tournament to elect a “noble knight” for themselves. In order to win, one had to go to an unknown place and find something that is required there. Caleb wanted to participate, of course, because of Evelyn and stuff, however, Philip wanted to, simply because he could? and wanted a position of a nobleman as well, and Caleb as well knew that Philip discovered the isles too well not to realize where he had to go and what he had to look for.

So, with that being said, Caleb got a cursing scroll and cursed Philip as he was sleeping, for just a day, he thought, however he didn’t know that his younger brother also practiced an untraditional way of casting spells and had carved some runes and sigils right on his hand. The curse resonated with the carvings and turned into a permanent one.

On the next day Caleb thought Pip would feel bad since the very first hours, however, that didn’t happen and so soon enough after the beginning of the tournament both of them were getting closer and closer to the point of their destination, which was in some sort of a mysterious cave, Philip started feeling unwell, but thought it was just the aura of the place. His condition worsened when they arrived and started looking for the thing, and that’s when Philip turned into the cursed monster for the first time. He chased Caleb for a while, until the man, while hiding, stumbled on the exact thing he needed to take to win the tournament. As soon as Caleb did that, the monster noticed him and attacked him one more time, throwing him into some sort of a pit, which appeared to be a temporally-dimensional wormhole — thus Caleb has disappeared from the material plane to some unknown place (or to no place at all) and when Philip turned back to normal, terrified, he ran back to the castle.

There he was accused of cowardice and treachery, because as soon as Caleb touched the hidden artifact, the Clawthornes knew it was him who did that, and as there was only his brother, they started suspecting something. In order to avoid accusations, Philip told them that he had been cursed probably, in order to not participate in the tournament, and told them the truth, hoping that Evelyn and her parents would trust him, Evelyn did trust, however the only thing parents did was that they recalled the seeress’ words about the cursed soul. So they banished him from the city and started working on the sealing of the wild magic much more actively, explaining to Evelyn the reason why they had to do that.

However, Philip wasn’t the very cursed soul they had to be afraid of. That’s because many generations later, when the sealing system was mastered almost to perfection, there were Edalyn and Lilith, still young princesses though. However, after the parents death (just age stuff or some illness though) Lilith was jealous of Eda to be the heir to the empire, so she put a curse on her, thinking that, when people saw that, they wouldn’t let her become the empress. Eda soon enough realized it was Lilith and murdered her while being in the owl form. Then she started making grimwalkers of her sister, telling her she was her aunt and making her the Golden Guard.

Eda created the well-known Coven system to use all the energy of the sealed wild magic to create a special “time machine” with the help of The King, a young titan sealed in a mirror by The Archivists after they battled with his father, because he weakened and chained their young one, the Collector, to the material plain of this world.

She needs the time machine to prevent herself from being cursed and thus rule the boiling isles without the need to care about her worsening condition day after day.

Also boom! Caleb’s back from the wormhole. For him these hundreds of years were like a few minutes of falling so yeah, he was quite shocked when he returned. The first thing he did was going to the Clawthorne castle and show Eda the artifact. She then remembered the story her parents and grandparents told her about the disappeared nobleman of Clawthornes and so thought he would make a good knight indeed. She granted him with a special staff that could help him cast magic ignoring the fact that he was a human.

Eda as well told Caleb that Philip is still alive and cursed, but! she could help him and cure him if Caleb would just bring him to her.

Philip out there is a notorious (for the empress and her people) outsider, who lives in a house pretty far away from the city (in ✨the stag house✨), thus, some call him The Stag Man, The Shadow-Walker, The Night-Goer, Caleb told one of the witches from the coven that the cursed form of Philip reminds him of a mythical monster Grendel and…. well, need I say everyone (except Caleb and Philip) liked that.

He lives there with The Collector, whom he found a few years ago sleeping endlessly in an ancient fortress of an abandoned isle. The boy woke up when he entered the fortress and so ughhh… it would be kinda cruel to leave him like that all on his own

Collie still has most of his powers sealed, he’s just a little dreamy guy

Luz arrives to the boiling isles when she saw one of the little green gooey abominations Philip has created stealing her book…

Ortober Day 1: Freedom/Captivity

here is a lilith clawthorne from my toh reverse au! she got lost in the BI a few years back and belosn kindly took her in :-) what a friendly old man surely nothing bad would happen to lilith shes doing great

it’s been a hot minute since i posted for my reverse au (really need to figure out a better name for that) but here’s some drawings i did! you may have noticed i’ve changed their designs again by a lot. old hexsquad has my heart <3

this is their s1-early s2 designs, when all 3 of them are still coven heads working togetherish

a gus and a luz! they still remain friends even after the rest of the hexsquad falls apart, and gus eventually leaves the coven at the end of S1. the two of them have been regularly meeting up for years and hanging out despite the entire “you’re a wild witch and i’m a coven head” thing which is very funny of them. they have the least amount of conflict between them.

post DOU hunter and luz being buddies :} they’re very good friends although the circumstances are very different (no hollow mind trauma for one)

and a post canon group hug! luz is just happy top have all her friends in one place

all of their main outfit changes are drawn here, although i haven’t figured out what exactly is going on w/ S3 and if they’re gonna have major outfit changes again or just all be puppets. who knows
