to first answer your question, yes i did change it and it’s only because i find that a lot of people genuinely care about how you call your ship (the convention of the ship name being top/bottom)
this is something that is polarising (especially between shippers on tumblr) and i have seen many posts about it, including people who insist that cielseba should be separately tagged from sebaciel (which i don’t agree with). i don’t like differentiating between them, it’s just unnecessary to split apart especially if you like them versatile… so where do you go? sebaciel or cielseba tag? isn’t it better to have everything in one tag?
me personally: yes i like cielseba yes i like sebaciel too but i will always prefer ciel topping (the majority of my fics reflect that even though im writing bottom ciel scenes too since i like them switching). i also prefer ciel as an adult (even if he’s bottoming), that’s just my own preference but because of this, some people won’t like to see what i post so i prefer to put that big cielseba right at the top of my blog so that if there’s any other cielseba enjoyers then they’ll say “yay a fellow freak” and if there’s any sebaciel enjoyers who don’t want to see this content, they can click out. to me, if someone doesn’t want to see clsb content, that’s totally fine so i want everyone to know what they’re getting into. we had people on sbcl twt saying that clsb made them sick or whatever. tbh i don’t appreciate that attitude but i can’t change people so i just prefer minimising harm and drama by being upfront. i even tell people i’m a shipper when they interact with my non-ship analyses so they don’t end up feeling misled or betrayed(?) and usually it makes people less likely to send hateful anons to me so that’s good 🙏
i have spoken before about the way top/bottom discourse makes me feel and what i think causes it, i don’t like it and one of the only “dramas” i have ever been involved in was due to someone telling me about the sbcl vs clsb feud on twitter and to be honest i wasn’t even directly involved, i just said it’s silly for the sbcl people to block or insult clsb fans and i got a shit ton of annoying asks from people. it’s over now but still it’s the only time i have openly expressed my opinions in regards to the sbcl vs clsb top bottom discourse.
another aspect is that i am one of the more vocal clsb enjoyers so i want my blog to be a safe space for the people who like it, it even led to an anti getting very angry with me because they asked why sebaciel shippers had started leaning more into “mommy milkers sebastian” (essentially taking his more feminine aspects into account) since i’d argue it’s something antis have co-opted, a reading of sebastian that goes against the daddy dom top. i responded to this anti saying “yeah lowkey my fault too” and they accused me of saying i popularised bottom!seb… honestly drama just comes to my doorstep and i have to step around it because talking in this fandom is like a minefield. people are constantly tearing each other down and i don’t want to get involved when everyone’s willing to be petty, mean or downright cruel.
