Summary: Your friends managed to drag you out of your introvert cave and to the amusement park, a place you admittedly were terrified of, those rides are dangerous, you know! Incredibly unsafe! Though when you got there, you ran into your old childhood friend, Seunghyun. Quite literally. It had been years since you’d seem him, and he has definitely changed.
“Y/n, I don’t understand why you came along with us if you aren’t going to get on any of the rides!”
One of your best friends, Ellie, furrowed her brows at you in judgement. Being nagged by Ellie was normal, honestly. You’d think she was your mother. The only reason you agreed to come along was because she was always begging you to take part in the friend group activities, and your introversion always kept you at home. Eventually the guilt built up and you told yourself that the next time your friends ask, no matter what it is, you would go.
If you had known that the next time they would ask would involve an amusement park, you would have never made that promise in the first place.
“Ellie, please... I have gotten on a couple! You make it sound like I’ve done nothing!”
“You basically haven’t!” Your best friend huffed. “I know you are afraid of rides but you have to get over that fear at some point, don’t you? We won’t let anything happen to you.”
With a sigh and a roll of the eyes, you looked over to your best friend, unable to hold back the slight glare.
Ellie had long jet black hair that she usually wore in a thick braid, easily bringing out her bright blue eyes and freckles, which she hated. Though nobody understood why. She was the most beautiful girl you’d ever seen, but she was so modest about it. Right now, however, those blue eyes were squinted at you, as if daring you to argue with her on the subject.
“I don’t see why--”
Before you could finish that sentence, your entire body slammed into the back of a tall figure, earning a quiet snort of a laugh from your friends.
“You should watch where you’re going, y/n” Ellie teased, earning a sharp glare in her direction before you quickly faced the poor soul who you’d bashed your entire body into.
“I am so, so sorry! Are you okay??”
As your eyes traveled up, you saw a tall man wearing what appears to be a trilby, which somehow he pulls off shockingly well. The hat hid his hair for the most part but from what you could see, it was a dark brown. He had an intimidating presence, and you immediately regretted bumping into him.
That thought was quickly pushed aside as soon as a look of concern flashed over his face and he reached out to you as if to steady you, but second thought it and pulled his arm back. This happened multiple times.
What an awkward guy. You held back a chuckle at the mess of a man in front of you.
“No, I am sorry! I wasn’t paying attention. I should have been paying attention. Are you okay? Did I hurt you?”
You raised a brow at the man in disbelief. “I’m... I’m the one who ran into you, what are you saying?” A chuckle slipped out before you could stop it, earning a laugh from your friends in response, whom you had already forgotten were there.
“I am sorry again, I should have been watching where I was walking.”
You paused for a moment, narrowing your eyes a slight bit at the man. He looked... vaguely familiar.
Just as you began to examine him, he appeared to be doing the same in return.
He must have had a better memory, because his eyes immediately widened.
“Y/n??”
You froze. You recognized your name being said in that tone. It took you a few moments, but it finally clicked.
“... Seunghyun?! Choi Seunghyun??”
The biggest dumbest smile spread across your childhood best friend’s lips, his deep dimples as prominent as ever. If you could say anything about Seunghyun in that moment, it would be that time had definitely treated him like fine wine.
Seunghyun’s long arms wrapped around you, pulling you against his chest in a tight hug so fast that you barely had time to react. He had always been like this, but it had been so long since you had seen him last that it definitely caught you off guard.
... Why is my heart racing? You tossed the thought aside as quickly as it came and hugged him just as tightly in return.
“Y/n, it has been so long since you moved away. Why didn’t you keep in touch?!”
Ellie butted in once more, reminding you that you had forgotten they were there for a second time.
“Y/n, aren’t you going to introduce us to your tall friend?” She smiled up at Seunghyun, who gave an awkward half-smile in response.
“Oh, of course! Ellie, guys, this is Seunghyun! We used to be neighbors when we were kids. I moved away freshman year of highschool and we lost touch.”
He gave a couple of nervous polite bows, earning laughs from your friends.
“Well, Choi Seunghyun, are you here alone? Do you want to hang out with us?” Ellie placed her hand on her hip. “We can’t seem to get y/n to get on any rides. perhaps you would have better luck.”
You let out a loud groan and rolled your eyes once more. “Ellie, please, those are so dangerous!”
“I bet you I can ride more rides than you can.”
You narrowed your eyes at Seunghyun. He used to do this a lot when you didn’t want to do something. He would make it into a challenge, which you found very hard to refuse. You couldn’t let him win, after all.
“That isn’t going to work on me this time, hyun.”
“How about you win, I will win any stuffed animal in the whole park for you?”
you immediately scoffed at him. “You think you have that much skill? These games are rigged you know.”
“Try me.”
“...” You sighed, aware that you couldn’t say no to your childhood friend.
“Alright, fine.”
Seunghyun threw his hands up to celebrate his small victory, which only fueled your determination more.
“Alright, you’re on. I WILL win this!”
“We’ll see, shrimp.”
The next two or so hours were full of you forcing yourself to get on rides with your friends and Seunghyun, who always made sure he was sitting next to you, friendly competition, and the reassuring gentle hand squeezes he gave you when he noticed your fear getting the better of you. Though there was a competition going on, he made sure to gently rest his hand on top of yours, on your shoulder and your knee throughout the entire time. He had never acted like this when you knew him back then. It was slightly confusing.
Though you weren’t quite aware of what was going on, Ellie was. She noticed every little touch Seunghyun made, every little glance in your direction when you were looking the other way, the soft smile on his lips every time you squeezed his hand in fear as the rides dropped. She knew you were oblivious, but she didn’t know you could be this oblivious.
“Hey, y/n, Seunghyun, the rest of us are going to go to the restroom real quick. We will come find you later!”
Before you could respond, your friends ran off and left you alone with him.
“... That was awfully fishy.” You muttered as you turned to face him.
He was unexpectedly close to you, looking down into your eyes, a curious glint in his.
His words came out rushed and messy as he took your hand in his.
“Y/n, I need to say this now or I will lose the courage. So please just listen until the end okay? Don’t say anything yet”
You raised your eyebrows in surprise, only nodding in response as you waited for him to continue.
The hand that wasn’t busy holding tightly onto yours reached up and gently brushed your bangs away from your eyes. He was staring deeply into them now, and for some reason your body felt quite hot, despite the cool weather. You broke eye contact to examine your old best friend.
His big dark eyes are actually quite beautiful, you thought absently. Was his jawline always this sharp?... No. He was on the heavier side back then. You had no idea he had such sharp features. His dimples that you used to find cute, now seemed deeply attractive to you.
“Y/n?”
You snapped out of your trance, looking up at a worried Seunghyun.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you, what did you say?”
He gave you an exasperated look, but it seemed a little relieved as well.
“I said, I like you. I like you a lot. I’ve always liked you, but I never did anything about it back then. I don’t want to let you slip away again without letting you know...”
You froze.
Here he was, after years of no contact, years of not being in each others lives, and he was confessing to you as if his feelings had never faded in the slightest.
He was staring at you with worry, waiting for a response, but you were still in your own little world. Seunghyun had always been protective of you, gentle and playful at the same time. He always rushed to your aid at the smallest things, like scraping your knee or tripping on the steps. You had always thought that was just something he did for everyone, but now that you were looking at him, it suddenly made so much sense. How could you be so clueless?
“Y/N!”
You laughed, snapping out of your thoughts once again at the oh-so-impatient man in front of you.
“I heard you this time, I promise!”
He let out another sigh of relief, thankful that you weren’t disgusted by his confession.
“Well... What do you think?” He asked awkwardly, not sure how to farther the conversation.
“I think...” you paused, a small smile forming.
Seunghyun stared at you , clearly nervous.
“... I think, you owe me the biggest stuffed animal in the park.”
“...What?”
“I won. You didn’t go on the twister, remember? You had to go to the restroom. I won. You owe me!”
His brows furrowed in preparation to argue that it doesn’t count, but you quickly cut him off, leaning up and pressing your lips softly to his.
His eyes widened for just a moment, it was the last thing he expected you to do, after all. Soon he shut them, though, and wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you against his chest. His free hand gently tilted your chin up as he deepened the kiss, all of the passion he had been holding in for all of these years, made quite clear.
After a moment, the two of you pulled away. Seunghyun was the first to speak.
“Though you cheated and got on a ride while I was gone, I yield. I will win you any stuffed animal you want. We call it even, as long as you don’t leave me again.”
A gentle laugh left your lips before you pinched his cheeks between your fingers.
“You couldn’t get rid of me if you tried.”
“Hey, lovebirds! Mind keeping the PDA to a minimum?”
You looked over to see Ellie and the others heading back to you, holding chili cheese fries for the both of you.
“I didn’t know what you’d like, Seunghyun, so I got you what y/n likes, I hope that’s okay!”
An embarrassed smile spread across his lips as the two of you separated from each other’s arms. “Sure, I love those, but you didn’t have to do that!”
“Well, seeing as we will be seeing a lot more of you from now on, we figured we’d welcome you into our friend circle with a greasy gift of friendship.”
You let out a sigh, but couldn’t hide the smile that followed, and took the fries from your friend for the both of you.
“Thank you for always being so meddlesome, Ellie. It is oh so appreciated.” Your voice was laced with sarcasm, but you knew she wouldn’t acknowledge it.
“Alright, let’s go watch big guy over here show off his famed amusement park game skills!”
Seunghyun jokingly puffed up his chest, dawning a serious expression. “I have been unbeatable so far, I am the king of these parts!”
All of you laughed at his ridiculous silly act, he was unphased though and grabbed your hand, lacing his fingers with yours before all of you started towards the balloon darts.
A/N: So it’s Josh Dun’s birthday and my best friend loves twenty one pilots,, It was Josh’s birthday
“Josh, you have a conference.” Y/n reminds the man, “Tyler is already there.”
“Can’t he just take care of it?” Josh asks, laying on some bed in the dressing room.
“Josh it’s for both of you, come on.” Y/n says, setting her clipboard on the chair.
“Ugh fine.” Josh says, getting up and following Y/n out of the room; grabbing her clipboard for her.
“Okay we kind of have to rush, I’ve already called the conference manager and she says that she’s kind of on a tight schedule but she’s willing to change some things. You’re pretty lucky, Tyler is also doing some business already so she’s getting some extra stuff. Now we can’t change the traffic but--” Y/n’s cut off of her rambling when Josh kisses her on the cheek.
“Let’s just take a breath,” Josh says, stopping Y/n for a second, “Don’t stress about it, you’re doing a great job. I’m sorry for stressing you out.”
“It’s alright,” Y/n says as she takes a breath, “You’re not stressing me out, we’re just a little late.”
“Okay, let’s go.” Josh says, giving Y/n her clipboard and following her to the cab.
Y/n gives the cab driver the address then leans back against the seat, sighing and closing her eyes. Josh smiles cutely at Y/n giving her another kiss on the cheek then resting his head against her shoulder.
Y/n cards her hands through Josh’s hair, helping him (and her) relax. She looks at the pink color of Josh’s hair, resting her head against his.
The cab stops in front of the building, Y/n pays the fee then shuffles Josh out of the car and into the building.
“You’re going to do great.” Y/n says with a smile, standing with Josh in front of the conference room he’s meeting Tyler and the woman in.
“Might need a bigger confidence boost.” Josh says, cupping Y/n’s cheek, “Can I kiss you?”
“Yeah.” Y/n says, kissing Josh quickly, “Have fun.” She adds, opening the door for Josh.
“I’ll try.” Josh says, booping Y/n’s nose then going into the room with a smile.
Request: Another request from Wattpad! Someone asked me to write a fic where the reader has a stutter/stammer. Just a little disclaimer: I did some research to find out the best way to write the reader in this instance. If anyone is curious as to where I got that information, I am happy to share. It was my goal to portray this as accurately as possible!
Author’s Note: I hope you guys like this one!
You stared down at your beaten up shoes. Had you made the wrong choice in wearing them? Josh’s parents might think that they were gross. There were plenty of other, nicer, shoes that you could have worn. Why didn’t you pick one of them?
“Are you doing alright?” Josh asked, reaching over and grabbing your hand from your lap.
You looked over to him and nodded, hoping that it would reassure him. He glanced at you and gave your hand a light squeeze.
After six months of dating, you had finally gone home to Ohio with Josh to meet his family. Luckily for you, only his parents would be home this weekend. You weren’t so sure that you would be able to handle meeting all of his siblings at the same time too.
“They’re going to love you, I promise. My mom hasn’t been able to stop talking about you since I sent her some pictures of us.”
“T… t-hat’s good to hear,” you said, forcing your mouth into a lopsided smile.
“And you know that at the end of the day, I’m always going to have your back.”
Josh turned off the main road onto a little side street. You felt your heartbeat begin to pick up as rows of suburban houses came into view. Your grip on Josh’s hand grew tighter.
“This is it,” Josh said as he pulled up against the curb.
“It’s nice,” you said.
The house was about how you had pictured it with brick walls and brightly colored siding. A nice manicured lawn was out front and you could practically picture Josh and his siblings playing out in the yard during the summer. It matched all the childhood stories Josh had told you perfectly.
“Ready?” Josh asked, shutting off the car.
“Yeah, let’s go.”
Josh wrapped an arm around you as you walked up the pathway that led to the front door. You took deep breaths and nervously tapped your fingers against Josh’s torso. He removed his arm from around you once you reached the porch so that he could knock. You fiddled with the end of your shirt.
His mom was the one to open the door. She smiled widely once she realized that it was the two of you.
“Josh! Y/N! I’m so glad that you made it.”
Josh stepped inside so you followed suit. She pulled him into a hug and then turned to you, still holding her arms out widely. You hesitantly stepped forward and allowed yourself to be pulled into her embrace.
“It’s so nice to finally meet you, Y/N. Josh has told me so much about you. You’re even more beautiful than your pictures. I’m Laura, by the way.”
“Thank you,” you smiled. “It’s nice to finally m… nice to finally m-meet you too.”
Josh’s dad appeared around the corner. He also began smiling once he realized that you and Josh had arrived.
“I was wondering when you two were going to arrive!”
He pulled Josh into a hug but settled on giving you a handshake as he introduced himself. You tried your best to keep your arm stiff and give him a solid handshake.
“Where’s all your stuff?” Laura asked.
“Still in the car,” Josh explained. “I just wanted to let you guys know that we made it.”
“Why don’t we go carry it in?” Bill asked, clapping a hand down on Josh’s shoulder.
Josh nodded and followed his dad back out the door. You wanted to go with him, but didn’t want to appear rude.
“You two made it just in time for dinner,” Laura said, beginning to walk down the hallway. You followed after her. “Josh mentioned that you like pasta, so that’s what I made.”
A variety of foods were laid out on the kitchen counter. Laura had pulled out all the stops for tonight’s dinner, and you weren’t sure whether to be flattered or terrified.
“T… t-his looks amazing,” you smiled.
“You think so?” she grinned. “I was so worried that you wouldn’t like the food that I made.”
“Are you kidding? It smells amazing in here.”
She waved a hand at you, “Oh, stop flattering me.”
Your head turned towards the front door as you heard it swing open again. Josh and his dad were carrying your luggage through the door.
“Y/N, do you want to come upstairs with me so you know where my room is?”
“Sure,” you smiled, pushing away from the counter to walk towards Josh.
You took your bags from Bill and followed Josh’s lead in kicking your shoes off at the bottom of the stairs. It was a bit awkward to get your bags up the narrow staircase, but you eventually managed to do it without damaging anything.
“That’s Jordan’s room,” Josh explained, pointing to one of the closed doors. “Then Abigail’s, Ashley’s, and mine.”
He pushed the door open and you finally got a good look at Josh’s childhood room. There was a small drum set pushed into a corner between his bed and a wall, next to a small tv on a stand. The desk in the far corner was covered in papers and band stuff. It was just big enough for you and Josh to stand in the middle of the room with your luggage without bumping into anything.
“This is nice,” you said, walking over and taking a seat on his bed.
“Not as nice as my house back home,” he said, pushing your suitcases into the bottom of the closet.
“Yeah, well you bought that after you got super famous.”
“You’ve got me there,” he smiled. “So what do you think about my parents so far?”
“They’re really cool! Your mom was so s…s... nice to make dinner for us.”
“She loves to cook for everyone. There’s a reason that she always hosts holidays.”
“Josh! Y/N! The food is getting cold!”
“You ready?” Josh asked.
You nodded and stood up from his bed. He followed you back out into the hallway and down the stairs.
Bill and Laura were already filling their plates with food. Josh grabbed you a plate from the cabinet and the two of you followed suit. There were so many different things that you weren’t sure if you would be able to get it all onto a single plate.
Once everyone had their food, you took a seat at the dining table. Josh took the place next to you and Laura sat down across from you, giving you a smile as she did so.
“So, Y/N,” Bill started. “Josh tells us that you have been going on tour with them.”
“Yeah, I have. It’s been really fun to s… s-pend time with the boys and see Josh in his element.”
“I know what you mean,” Laura chimed in. “Watching him and Tyler perform is truly something else. I remember when they were playing tiny shows here in Ohio and now they’re playing sold out shows all over the world.”
“Mom,” Josh sighed, although you could tell that she was really proud of her son.
Laura shook her head, “He always gets embarrassed when we talk about him.”
“I know what you mean. He gets embarrassed when I t… t-alk about him too.”
This earned Josh a look from his mom, causing you to giggle.
“Why don’t you tell us more about you, Y/N?” Bill chimed in. “Josh has been talked about enough these days.”
Josh smiled and shook his head. You pushed around some of your food.
“Um, well I grew up in Y/H/N. Before I m… m-et Josh, I had gone to college and gotten a degree, but I wasn’t really interested in getting a job in that field yet.” Josh reached over and rested a hand on your leg. “I was actually working in a record shop while I was figuring out what I wanted to do, which is when I met Josh. We really hit it off and before l… l-ong I was joining them on tour and helping out with that. I don’t know what else there is to tell,” you laughed nervously.
Josh gave your leg a reassuring squeeze and smiled at you. His parents seemed genuinely interested in what you had to say, which was nice.
“Well, you seem like a great fit for Josh and I can see that you make him very happy.”
“Thank you,” you grinned.
The rest of the night went by faster than you had expected. The four of you sat around swapping stories--many of which involved Josh doing embarrassing things as a child--, playing card games, and eating the dessert that Laura had graciously made for you. You were laughing so hard that your stomach hurt and you were slowly beginning to feel more relaxed.
Bill and Laura finally announced that they were going to bed, so you and Josh decided to do the same. He laced his fingers with yours and practically pulled you up the steps. You were so tired that you collapsed on his bed at the first opportunity.
“Today was fun,” you smiled, burying your face into his pillow. “I like your family.”
“From the looks of it, they like you too,” Josh smiled as he hopped out of his jeans.
“Can I wear your s… wear your s-shirt to bed?” you asked.
“Of course,” he answered, stripping his shirt off and tossing it over to you.
You changed out of your clothes into Josh’s shirt. He finished pulling on his sweatpants and then walked over to flip the light off. The only light in the room was from the streetlamp out on the street.
“How are we going to do this?” you asked, looking down at the twin bed that you were sitting on. It was much different than the king bed you were used to being in when you slept over at Josh’s.
“Um.” You could just make out the shape of Josh slowly making his way across the bedroom. “I guess we’ll have to-”
He stopped speaking as he bumped into you sitting on the bed.
“Josh!” you giggled, reaching up to rub your arm. “That hurt.”
“Sorry, I thought you were already laying down.”
“No, I was waiting for you. Did you want to be by the wall or should I?”
“I’ll go by the wall.”
Josh slowly climbed past you and slid under the covers. Once he was settled, he held his arms out so that you had space to get comfortable. You crawled under the covers and snuggled up next to him.
“Thank you for coming with me to see my family,” he said, wrapping an arm around you.
“Of course. T… t-hey’re so nice. I see where you get it from now.”
Josh leaned forward and pressed a kiss to your temple. You smiled and wrapped one of your hands around his forearm, holding him close to you.
Imagine being a famous musician, and Josh and Tyler absolutely love your music, and all the pieces you create. Your music speaks to them in a deep manner, and they feel all the emotions you pour in your creations. The two of them are your biggest fans.
// gender neutral reader and trigger warnings throughout //
Josh would never shut up about this kid. Every single day when he got on the phone with you, he would talk for hours and hours about this boy who played the ukulele and screamed dark lyrics and had strange tattoos and liked to cry a lot. Ever since high school, Josh and you had still remained friends. Through those four years, the two of you created the best friendship you could ever ask for, and although you had to leave to go to college, you had managed to keep your relationship with Josh alive. He called you almost every single day for hours on end, and you would both talk about your day, about the people you’ve met, the places you’ve seen, the things you had done. You weren’t all that special really. You found your passion for your career in high school, got fairly good enough grades to get a halfway scholarship to college a handful of states away, and ended up graduating with a degree and no place to get a job. Sure, it was nice to feel accomplished, but unable to apply yourself only made everything feel so useless. You had called plenty of companies and people and managers, but nobody seemed to want you. Without a paycheck, you were forced to take the long drive home back to Columbus, Ohio where your friend Josh had offered to let you stay with him until you could get back on your two feet.
Unlike you, Josh had managed to find his passion for his career, and be successful with it. In fact, he had even gone on tour with this band he got in, traveling state to state and playing drums alongside the boy he constantly talked about. Most people would think that you would get sick of hearing your best friend babble about their new best friend, but honestly, you were interested. You wanted to know everything about this ukulele boy, not only because Josh was so infatuated with him, but because you were too. Josh spoke about how this boy used to write songs in his basement when he was only a teen, how he had played basketball for years on end, how his older brother taught him how to rap and became his biggest inspiration, how he came from a dark and terrible past, how his eyes light up whenever he hears a Death Cab For Cutie song come on the alternative radio station. You were happy for Josh, that he was able to find a friend that meant so much to him, to be able to be living his dream, to be so successful in so little time. You were driving back to your hometown, just a couple hours away, talking to the phone with Josh when the subject came up.
“So, you’re finally going to meet Tyler,” you could practically hear Josh beaming on the other side of the phone. That’s the name of the ukulele boy. Tyler. His name had been ingrained in your head from the moment Josh had first mentioned him. “I’ve told him so much about you. Like all the crazy pranks we pulled off in high school or that time we ditched school or when-”
“When we went through the Taco Bell drive thru with the motorcycle we stole from my dad,” you finished, laughing a bit. “Yeah. I remember that.”
“Anyways, you’re going to love him,” Josh sighed. “Geez, I can’t believe I haven’t seen you in over five years. That’s wild.”
“College is rough,” you simply responded. “But I missed you too.”
“Did you finally listen to that video I sent you? Of our show last week?” he wondered eagerly.
“Yup, that was amazing,” you grinned. “I really liked that song.”
“It’s a new one,” he explained. “Tyler wrote it with the mind set of playing it in a huge crowd you know, with everyone singing along. He can’t wait until the day when that happens.”
“I’m sure it will happen,” you reassured. “With the way you guys are cranking out content left and right.”
“Anyways, it will probably be late when you get here,” Josh reminded. “Just knock on the door as much as you need to until I get up in case I fall asleep.”
“Will do, knucklehead,” you rolled your eyes.
“Alright,” he smiled.
On the entire ride home he kept talking to you, and when you reached his apartment, he captured you in a huge hug. “Oh my god!” your face hurt so much from smiling. “It feels like forever!”
“Gosh I missed you,” he sighed, hugging you even tighter.
“How have you been?” you inquired.
“Come on, we just talked like two minutes ago on the phone,” he laughed. “You know how I’m doing.”
“Alright then,” you sighed. “Then tell me something I don’t know.”
The two of you talked almost all night long. He had picked up Chipotle for the both of you and you listened to music and watched television shows, caught up on life. You actually ended up falling asleep on the sofa together, and that’s what led to the events the following morning. The events that little did you know, would change your life forever. Meeting Tyler. Because it was that next morning when everything began. The day when you met the boy who you would want to spend your entire life with. The day when you would meet the guy who would bring you the best joy you’ve ever known in your entire life. The day when you would meet the person who you would sleep next to every single day for the rest of your life. But also, the day when you would unknowingly meet your worst nightmare.
