I have made posts before about Blaine Gordon, Barbie's brief Australian boogie-boarding boyfriend.
In fact I have made more than one, because I love Blaine. I miss him and think he was robbed.
But this is not yet another post about Blaine Gordon: this is about Summer Gordon.
Summer was also released as part of the Cali Girl lineup in 2004, as Aussie Blaine's sister.
In her initial appearances, Summer was depicted as having tan skin and brown hair, but later appearances such as in the Top Model line in 2007 depicted her as having pale skin and more strawberry hair. (I guess her Cali life really helped her tan!)
And then as part of the Fashionistas line, Summer had a more classic blonde hair colour.
Her biggest distinguishing feature at this time to separate her visually from Barbie is that she had brown eyes and a different head sculpt. However, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of kids didn't realise she was a different character to Barbie.
I don't know why Summer gets to hang around when her brother Blaine has been languishing in the discontinued pile. But I do know she is a relatively prominent character in other Barbie media, including some of the Barbie films and Barbie: Life In The Dreamhouse.
