Five reasons why Japan should be at the top of your vacation list
Whenever I’m asked about my favorite countries that I’ve been to so far, Japan is up in the top three. I’ve been there two times now, spending a total of 2 months worth of time in the country.
The cities I’ve visited so far are: Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Sapporo.
So why should you go here?
1. The mix of old and new: Japan has always been on the edge of technological developments. At the same time, however, it has managed to hold on to many of its old traditions and customs and done a great job at maintaining its old shrines and temples.
2. The food: Japanese food isn’t just limited to sushi and raw fish! The palette is diverse ranging from the healthier ‘shabu shabu’ (Japanese hot pot) to all things deep fried.
3. Easy Transportation: From long-distance, high-speed trains to low-cost budget airlines and bus services, it’s incredibly easy to get around Japan. Within the cities is equally as easy as all major cities have extensive public transportation networks.
4. It’s safe: According to LiveJapan, when considering cases of violent robbery, America had a recorded 101.74 cases, England and Wales had 87.52, and Japan was at a low 2.41.
5. It’s clean: I find cleanliness is really ingrained in Japanese culture. Despite not having many public garbage bins, the streets remain clean. It also helps that ‘eating and drinking while walking’ is frowned upon in the culture. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
