PIED A TERRA FIRMA A simple run along Canada’s Atlantic coast with a moment of contemplation and badly needed rest. Months of involuntary lying about and infrequent running makes the day of sea air and great beauty especially meaningful. How deeply challenging to accept that mind and body, still healing, rage and complain, chanting relentlessly “Not enough!” My unconscious patterns are very harsh-even cruel-as they scream “you lazy piece of shit.” Years of self knowledge study and practice have diminished their potency. They no longer cripple. I no longer believe. Still, a weight remains, which is why for this one the work remains to chant even louder: not me. Not me. The good news? That is reality. I can tell you where those voices came from, how they were hard wired and how to address them. Which is why all relationships, whether with oneself, another or others obliges great diligence. And faith. Because wisdom teaches that all one can do is be all who you really are- learn and be what it means to be fully human (and, OMG, that’s often galaxies beyond what most think about themselves. But the student with the burning desire to be the change, to know all within, to study wisdom proven to enlighten and to listen to a qualified teacher, then it is more likely than not one runs free of desire and fear. And still accomplish beyond one’s wildest dreams. Whatever the accomplishment that practice is a feat of humane performance not taught but discovered by true seekers. Run free, my friend. You deserve that and more. It’s actually your birthright.
