Friday lunchtime run in the sun. The wind was chilly but the sun was warm so perfect for a run. I hope this lovely sunshine sticks around for the weekend.
Wow what a week 🏃🏽♀️ Week 6 ✅
First time since probably Week 5 I have done the Thursday run so I am feeeeeling it. I’m at the netty pre season tournament with my mum just spectating of course and I’m having to stand every 20 mins like the old lady 👵🏼 I am. Definitely was dehydrated during the run this morning it was a bit of a battle but then to see an average pace like that 👌🏻 That’s the longest run of the schedule.
Time to deload and do lots of rolling and stretching for two weeks
Scenes from a training run. 6.57 miles in 98.36, that’s not ideal, but it’s half the distance in sub 2h which isn’t great, but given the lack of training isn’t too bad either. I’ve got a chance…
Runner Four: We’re going on a super secret mission.
Me: This morons going to get us killed.
Runner Four: It’s for wool. I want to knit.
Me: A truly noble cause. I’d die for this moron.
Ragnar is over, so I'm back to my 50k training. I have been having a hard time finding new routes, and since I get bored of the same-old-same-old I went onto the maps app and messed around until I figured out a rough estimate for a 13 mile run. I was going to finish it at 12 miles so I just went up an extra road for a bit and came back.
I rolled my legs and it's been a few hours, it honestly feels like I've barely run. It's a massive change from when I used to do five or six miles and be sore for days. This is one of the first times I'm actually feeling like I can tackle a 50k.
I would back up today’s run with a pic from Fitbit but for some reason the Fitbit app on my phone is having a nervous breakdown. I think there was an update. Anyway, I actually did get up early and do a seven-mile run before it got hot and before (most of) the dogs were awake. I finished in 1:18 and some seconds.
1:19 is my previous 10k best. And I did an extra .8 in under that time. If I remember the app correctly it said I averaged 11:13 pace. (Part of that was downhill so it feels like it ought not to count, but since we don’t have “hills” that go “up” and “down” around here I don’t worry about it much.) I’m pretty pleased with this, even though I’m still not particularly fast, it means focusing on speed work is paying off.
I’m still going in March to the Gate River Run 15k in Jacksonville. I was joking with Mister earlier about doing the Hastings Half Marathon (the “Spud Run”) again just on principle, since last year I bonked hard at mile ten and practically walked the rest of the way in. He said he didn’t mind if I did, and he feels confident enough in my ability that he would let me just go by myself and drive home. And he’s not being mean or grumpy, he’s gently teasing. And I suspect if/when I sign up he’ll probably go anyway because he can walk over to the John Deere dealership and poke the tractors.
Also I ate ridiculously badly today, but I am determined not to feel bad about it because it tasted good, I wanted a treat, and it’s not like I have donuts every day.
Ok WOw!!! I wasn’t even trying to do this but I went for a run and my first mile was fast and I thought hmmm what if I ran 3 miles and tried to keep this pace and I hit an adulthood PR (fastest since high school) in the 5k on a Friday training run!! Yayyyy!!!!!!! Wow!! This felt great!!!
