in short, transmutation is simply defined as the action of changing. in witchcraft, transmutation is commonly used to transform negative energy into positive energy, but can be used in any instance. by that i mean that you can transmute, or change, whatever type of energy you're collecting into whatever type of energy you want! this includes acts of love, cursing, glamours, abundance, etc. get creative.

transmutation and transformation can be tied to the planet pluto.

multiple asks about making fake money with magic but couldn't a skilled transmutation user just turn something into gold (or whatevers valuable) and sell it lol

I have already answered an ask on this subject here.

Though I would like to add that the Nytherian government is already prepared for such magics, and most shopkeepers have ways of detecting whether magic has been used on the money before accepting it. This is a society built around magic, they are aware of and have plans in place for illegal acivity.

Any witch tips?

so I've been thinking about making a protection/warding jar or something of the sort for keeping my little sister safe, but I'm not sure how I'd do that without running the risk of accidentally hurting her. I want to make the jar baneful or transmutational. I'm not sure how I'd go about making a baneful ward without possibly catching her in the crossfire, and I've never done transmutation work before.

what would happen if an enchanted object was transmutated? divination specialists can use divination spells without a scrying bowl, is this, like, in their head? do they make a visible image just minus the bowl?

Please don't take this as a cop out answer, Anon, but it really depends on what the specific magic is and what the transmutation does. It could:

Just flat out not work (the transmutation) as many enchanters include protections against other magics

Break the enchantment, if the object is changed into something that prevents it from performing the original enchantment

Or transfer the enchantment to the new object until it turns back

II's in their heads. Like a dream. They can project visions to others, but they would need something reflective to do it (like water or a mirror), which is why most seers own scrying bowls anyway.

Technically, but two caveats. 1) The object that gets changed needs to have a comprable mass. 2) Unless the person is highly skiled, it's hard to change something permanently. Assuming they were skilled enough, and had an appropriate object to change, they would also leave behind traces of their magical signature unless they took signifigant time to remove it.

Long story short it is possible, but the skill, time, and attention to detail required, means it would probably be easier to use nonmagical means to counterfit money. (Although now I'm adding magical counterfit gold opporation into the story ideas for later pocket.)
