Basketball. As usual, I just can't make shots. -__-; Playing 2 on 2, I was able to make a lot of shots. Maybe there's something about being able to drive in against one person and making shots. When I played 5 on 5, the pocket's just too stuffed for me to do anything. I attempted something like 10 shots and made only 1. BLAH. Hahaa. Oh well, I'll just keep playing basketball as a good cardio workout. I'm able to play a pretty strong defensive game.
After the NorCal Dragonboat Clinic in BIAC, I have a lot of work to do. My 300m time trial was 2:06. My previous time was 1:51. It makes sense though... STEP has been killing me. I barely had any time to go workout and I've not had enough paddling time with Stanford Dragonboat as it got closer to finals week. Anyway, I gotta step up my fitness!
Newfound Trainer
It was after watching this video that inspired me to pick up my training. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftmVLvQyZAs
To be great, you have to work hard smartly. It is not about just pounding your body, but you have to do it the right way. Set the goal, learn the right techniques, go hard.
I am also excited for playing some IM basketball with the STEP students. I got JD to call other people to the gym to play. Fortunately, some of the people have been on teams before, so I am really going to try to get them to teach me basketball techniques. I may be quick and can hustle, but without the technique and training, I'm going to get stopped pretty easily. Moments like this, I wish I had played sports like bball and football in high school.
Looking through my fb contacts, I decided to ask KV to be my trainer. I need someone to push me, to have high demands of me. I know that KV probably just wants someone to work out with, but I tried to make it really clear that I want him to train me. Hope he's up to the task. Today's workout was pretty brutal, but I felt good.
My weight was 149lbs. Maybe I really am skinnier? Anyway, here was my workout after 1.5 hours of basketball.

This is a simple exercise that can be easily done incorrectly. I have witnessed many attempt this exercise only to get a different result than what they bargained for...usually a neck pain. This happens because of poor technique and the utilization of the shoulder and trapezius muscles as opposed to the back and triceps. Follow my tutorial and build striated triceps or just tone them up. The choice is yours
