Kitty & Beth — Pushing It Down and Praying
(Song by Lizzy McAlpine)
Day 3 of @zutaramonth
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Prompt: “Can I braid your hair?”
Summary: Kya hates family field trips, especially the lovey-dovey way her parents act toward each other.
There are some vague references to Zuko’s childhood and the abuse he experienced, as well as the abuse experienced by Ursa, but nothing more than canon-typical.

Hi there ! I’m looking for a fic where Alice pretty much has full charge over betty and tells Jughead that betty left when she was actually at the sisters of quiet mercy , I also remember betty running away from Alice and the serpents finding her in the forest and taking her back to Jughead ? Any help would be great ! Thank you !!
Hi! This one sounds super interesting, but I can’t seem to find it so we’re putting it out to the audience. You’ve been waiting a while, so thanks for your patience!
~MM
Thank you so much @lili-reinhart-96 and @sleepyhoneyyy for finding this one!
temporary ground by Jenny_Jensen (1/1 - G)
Summary: “Part of me wanted to believe that you had run away and never looked back,” Jughead cradles her jaw, sweeping his thumb across her bottom lip to free the skin from the confinements of her top teeth. “Why didn’t you?”
🌟Opis
I NEVER EXPECTED IT TO BE ABOUT THE STUNTED 19 YEAR OLD AGENDER SNAKE CHILD BUT OKAY
1. Ópis has a huge fear of axes. If you look a bit more, you notice that one of the horns has a certain part chopped off. That is because Laai had used an axe to almost chop off Ópis' whole horn.
2. The snakes and Ópis share a body together, kind of like a fusion. The snakes weren't caused by trauma but it's by the irony in Ópis' name.
3. Originally Ópis was a Monochrome Cow. But that is no longer canon and they are now- I guess they're kind of a Gorgon??? But they don't turn people into stone like a bitch named Medusa and her 2 other sisters.
4. Ópis was actually adopted. They didn't know their actual parents considering that their father was arrested after killing their mom- Luckily one of the 3 older siblings got Ópis out of the house and hid Ópis somewhere that their father wouldn't find Ópis. But it was winter- And it was very cold.
5. Ópis has went through tons of childhood trauma, and it let them to being... Obsessive over their abuser, Laai. It isn't Ópis' fault that he's obsessed over Laai- It was Laai's fault, and his alone.
6. Ópis looks up to Law as an older brother figure.
7. Ópis used to look up to Hosuh as their father figure. But Hosuh was killed by Laai.
8. Ópis has been the cause of multiple missing children. Ópis didn't mean to do cannibalism on the children, but if the snakes are hungry, Ópis is hungry as well. After all- They do share a body.
9. Ópis has a Lazy Eye due to Head Trauma.
10. Ópis wants to kill Laai off so his obsessive behavior stops.
(LAAI, LAW, AND HOSUH BELONG TO @baristawitch)
This isn't really an ask, but a thanks. I've been realizing that I'm an incredibly lucky person not to have PTSD, depression or any number of issues caused by the abuse I went through as a kid. The only things I really struggle with are food dependency, because the punishment of choice was starvation in my house, and a bit of an inferiority complex, because I was told for too many years just how stupid and worthless I was. I know I'm not, but I always assume the worst of things...but I try.
First of all, you are not worthless.
Let me say this again, because it’s really important: you are not stupid, and you are not worthless. You are a survivor of abuse and bullying.
Now, I’m gonna tell you what I told a friend the other night:
It isn’t a contest. Your trauma, whatever it is, is yours and how you process and heal from it is yours also. Your trauma being different from someone else’s trauma does not invalidate your trauma. That’s learned helplessness, ingrained into us by our abusers, making us feel like we still have to protect them, like we somehow deserved their abuse.
We did not. You did not. You are not worthless or stupid.
I am lucky, in that I wasn’t beaten regularly. But I was grabbed and hit and even choked on more than one occasion. Does that mean my pain and my trauma and my journey is less relevant than someone who was routinely burned with cigarettes? Or smacked around all the time? I don’t think so.
I think it’s healthy to feel grateful for the things we did NOT endure, but that does not invalidate or minimize the things that we DID endure.
Your experience is valid, and your feelings about your experience are valid.
And, because it’s really important that you know this: You are not stupid or worthless!

Happy Valentione’s day, this is probably the only thing I’ll finish in time!

At the end of episode 5 of Riot Women, when Gavin hurts Kitty for the last time, the fear on her face is absolutely harrowing.
It’s not just fear of him in that moment; it is the realisation of what will continue if she does not get out and draw a line under this chapter of her life. You can see it in her eyes: she knows exactly what is coming, but given her drunken state and broken hand, she is powerless to escape it, and probably all she can think about is how, if she makes it out alive, she will go straight to Beth, where she is loved and safe. This is why she shows up at Beth’s house in the early hours following the assault — her safety.
