Imagine making a bet with Loki. He’s so confident that he agrees to let you give him a sidecut if he loses. (Eek!)

You win the bet, and Loki is struggling to hide his apprehension. But a deal is a deal.

He sits down in front of you, and you’re feeling especially smug as you pick up the trimmer. Thinking he’s something; look at him now!

As the trimmer whirs to life, you’re struck by the gravity of what you’re about to do. What it means. How it might make him feel walking around like that. When it grows back out, and how self-conscious he might be.

All because, what? You wanted so badly to prove him wrong for once? To feel like a bigshot?

Instead, you feel more like a bully.

“Well?”

You look over Loki’s shoulder. He’s picking at his palm.

The tic breaks your heart.

You can’t do it. You turn off the trimmer and chuck it to the ground.

“I’m sorry, Loki. I’m... I-I’m sorry.”

Loki turns around to wrap his arms around you, letting you know he forgives you. You stay in his embrace for a few minutes, allowing him to pepper your cheek and temple with chaste kisses.

“What would you like your reward to be instead?”

“I’m good with just bragging rights.”

Loki chuckles lightly into your hair. “Deal.”
