qotd: the difference between true and north node !!

i use astro-charts.com to look up and study my birthchart but im a dummy and JUST realized that u have the option of also showing your asteroids n things on the chart !! so i clicked all the available astroids/astronomical locations and they showed up, v exciting, v cool - a whole new world of astrology to explore in my chart <33

the problem is !! my north node is in aries but my true node is in taurus (albeit LITERALLY 2 degrees apart) - nonetheless, this made me think "oh so they might be two different things?"

so under the impression my true node is NOT the same as my north node, i looked up what a true node is (if it's a celestial body or a point in space) and after some reading, most of what i was seeing said that the true node is basically the north node?? and there's also something called a mean node, but i didnt read much about it

so long story short: i am CONFUSED. because the big ol internet says that true and north node are the same. but i have my true and north node in different signs - even though they're only 2 degrees apart, it's still confusing because how can they be the same fixed point in space but also fall in 2 different signs (aka 2 different places) !?!??!

Hi 👋 I was wondering if you can explain one of my placements for me? - Stellium in 8th and in Aries( North Node, True Node and Juno) all of them are in Aries too.

Okay so I should first explain smth.

Stellium: 3 or more planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) in the same house or sign. The nodes don't count. Although some astrologers count them if they're in the middle of the stellium (aka not the first or last 'planet').

Why don't nodes (north & south) count in stelliums?: They're not planets, they're calculated points in the sky based on the position of the Moon relative to the Earth & Sun.

North node, mean node, ascending node, true node... What's the difference?

North node & ascending node are synonyms, they mean the same thing.

The words mean node and true node both refer to the moon's North node (or ascending node, whatever you want to call it).

What's the difference between mean node and true node? The only difference is how they've been calculated. These two can't be more than 2.5° apart from each other but the calculation is different.

Mean node: When astronomers calculate the Mean Node, they take the Moon’s rate of motion and average it out. The resulting position is the Mean Node. The Mean Node is always retrograde.

True node: In theory, the position of the Nodes “wobbles” a bit. Astronomers began to factor this wobble in and called this position the True Node. Although the Nodes proceed through the Zodiac signs in a retrograde direction, the True Node moves in the opposite direction for a few days a month. (The opposite of retrograde is “direct.”) This is very different from the mechanism by which the planets go retrograde.

Which one's better? There's data to support either choice. They're only ever 2.5° apart so it doesn't matter much. If they fall in different signs for you, consider that both signs are valid.

Next: asteroids don't count in stelliums. The only moment you may consider an asteroid in a stellium is if there's already a planetary stellium (3 planets) there.

So as for your question. North node & true node is the same thing (North node is both true & mean, it just refers to the node itself no matter the calculation). So I assume you mean mean & true node in Aries. It's not weird to have both in the same sign, because they'll only ever be 2.5° apart.
