Inspired by the work @jacky93sims had done already with making their "unlimited potty pads" for cats and dogs, I took the code a little further and also put it into a style that would fit my games better.
Instead of needing two different objects for cats and dogs, now both can use this one object, and it remains unlimited uses and no need to clean. They can be found in Misc > Pet for $0, and are quarter tile enabled and compressed.
Seasonal & Non-Seasonal types SHARE A GUID, so you must pick ONLY ONE depending on how you'd like it to function.
I've come up with 6 styles: Grass Patch (+ seasonal variant), Leaf Pile (+ seasonal variant), Straw Pile, Cornflower Patch, Anemone Flower Patch, and Shallow Hole. Each come with some built in recolors.
Additional credits in the zip for those I've used textures/meshes from. Thank you all
This custom content pack will provide updated versions of every Maxis dog & cat breed in the sims 2, ranging from small tweaks to significant model changes and new coat colors (coats and breeds unlocked through gameplay are not included or required). This will diversify the gene pool for pets and provide the variety and genetics mixing that the community has desperately wanted for years. I plan to release this in 3 parts, starting with the large breed dogs. The goal is to have part 1 posted within the next couple months.
In the meantime, here's a sneak peek at the new Great Dane model and some genetics testing I did.
I gave the Dane model a much larger/wider head and slimmed the rest of its body a bit to make it look closer to real-life Great Dane proportions.
For genetics testing, I used the above fawn coat (a Maxis Dane coat I altered to give it more depth) and a completely custom "merlequin" coat variant. I used this mod by KittenInTheWindow to show all coat markings on the puppies.
Father
Mother
They had a litter of 3, 2 of which had a nice mix of layers from both parents (and the other is just a merlequin with tan feet I guess haha).
These are the pups as adults:
I then tested to see how the merlequin coat would mix with Webster's (a premade Kerry Blue Terrier). At first the puppy seemed like he would be almost a copy of Webster, but turned out to have nicely mixed genes when he grew up.
I'm so excited to get this project finished and I hope I can make something the sims community will love! Feedback is always appreciated and encouraged!
🐈 Somewhat overwhelmed by the enormous task of rebuilding my Download folder, I realized that I wanted a default animal eye replacement coordinated with the ones I had created. So I slightly adapted the textures of my werecats and werewolves to create replacements. However, I hadn't anticipated how blurry the game's textures were. I'm also thinking of creating custom eyes to complete the set with my initial palette 🎨
The heterochromia option on pets is really handy for comparing adjustments.
After days of tinkering and photoshop, I think I have my last version...
More immersive pet treats - Giving treats now requires Sims to go out and buy them!
My anniversary celebration gifts so far have given us players a treat, the sims a treat, and as a player that also enjoys having pets, I thought it might be nice to finish off by giving the pets a treat! :) I enjoy making my game more immersive, and giving my Sims reasons to go out and buy things in OFB businesses as well as more chores/responsibilities. Now if your Sims want to reward their adorable furbabies, they best get on down to the pet store and buy some delicious delectable pet goodies!
The original object used was by RetailSims, who kindly agreed to let me use her objects for my pet global mods. I have improved upon the mesh to include cat treats, remapped it a little and made it easier to recolor. I am not that great at photo-editing but thankfully the kind and generous @kashmiresims agreed to create some fresh new recolors for it, providing textures for cat/dog, big dogs, small dogs and cats :)
How the mod works
1. Mod impacts current family only, because maybe your visitors brought treats with them. I do that sometimes :P
2. Only impacts residential and apartment lots, so that if you encounter strays on community lots, or took a pet on vacation, you don't have to worry about it (unless it is an owned vacation home).
3. For active family to feed treats to pets on residential or apartment lots, they must have a treat bucket object present on the lot, with treats left. Every time you feed a pet a treat, the bucket capacity goes down. When it runs out, you have to buy a new one.
4. Default setting on bucket is 20 treats. It is controlled in BCON 1003 on the object, so if you want a different number you can easily change it :) The bucket is quite large, so 20 seems a little ridiculous, but I wanted your Sims to actually need to buy one every so often and 20 seemed a good compromise. A smaller version of the bucket will be coming eventually.

Conflicts: None that I know of. The bucket is a new object, separate from the original so you can have both.
Credits: HChangeri at RetailSims for the original bucket object, @kashmiresims for the lovely new recolors and generally motivating me to get things done! :) @gayars, @morepopcorn, @klaartjesimblr and @crispsandkerosene who kindly helped answer various meshing questions when I got stuck during the making of the new version of the bucket. Gayars who made the very cute heart ballons, that you can get here! DeeDee for the party hat accessory that I made an object and OMSP wrangled into a pet hat :3
This was part 3 of my Anniversary Gifts, find the rest here!
Lost in the sense that the link HAS been found but the game is in a terrible state. The swf-file is not loading properly. Maybe one of the other languages has it available by changing it in the link but I had no luck with it sadly
Nope, I didn't use any custom face templates or sliders to make this render. This werewolf face IS in the game! Once again, nothing to download here, at least not for now. Hopefully we can make this an actual thing. All the details and research under the cut 🐺
So I was digging through the Pets EP files the other day for a project I had in mind when I found these meshes:
The "Arch" in the name caught my attention, because that's how the CAS face templates are named as well, so when I loaded the preview I found these really cool werewolf faces!
That got me thinking… this was probably intended for the werewolf transformations, right? Looks like the devs scrapped this idea on the final Pets release. @/hypersaline already restored the werewolf fangs, and I was wondering if it would be possible to restore these faces too.
Are "temporary face sliders" overlays even a thing in this game? The closest interaction I can think of is the Plastic Surgery station and its preset faces for the failed surgeries, but those just create a new face in the genetic data of the Sim, which is permanent unless the player gives them another plastic surgery session. The ideal thing would be morphing the face with these "sliders" when they transform into werewolves, and then remove them once they go back to their human shape.
Anyway, I figured I could extract the meshes and see if I could preview the faces in Blender just to showcase them. The files are pretty broken, they don't even have a UV map and the vertex order is all over the place. So after some tedious vertex snapping shenaningans I kinda remade them in Blender. Here's how they all look, compared to the base second face template in the game:
Adult Female Face (afArchLycan):
Adult Male Face (amArchLycan):
Teen Female Face (tfArchLycan):
Teen Male Face (tmArchLycan):
No elder faces as far as I know, and obviously children werewolves aren't a thing in the vanilla game.
The modding skills needed to restore something like this (if it's even possible) are way out of my scope. So yeah, if any modder knows a trick or two about how to implement this face transformation back in the game and feels brave enough to give this a try, please count me in! My DMs are open. I'll be more than happy to help with anything I'm able to on the meshing department 🙇♂️
Until then, at least here's a showcase archived of what could have been for Sims 2 werewolves 🌝
