Why has no one explored the Hanahaki Disease potential in fanfic in the umbrella academy fandom?! The source of the brellies powers is literally called the marigold (and they get turned into flowers at the end of s4 cough) and we haven't made au's with Hanahaki?!

Like imagine an au where its not the whole Durango bullshit with jennifer and ben that causes the end of the world but instead ben or jennifer spiraling because of Hanahaki disease?

TUA S3 Thoughts

*spoilers ahead*

How the fuck did Reginald know the Umbrellas would have powers when he adopted them? Why did he purchase as many as he could of these babies? Also, how calculated was the choosing of the birth mothers to have stopped 6 births when the 6 moms died?

I would have assumed that 16 children would still be born, just to different mothers. Does this mean, that by the creation of the Sparrow universe/timeline, there are 6 different children who were born instead of the Umbrellas in this timeline? And therefore there exists an extra 6 people with powers somewhere in the Commission’s knowledge of human existence?

Were there more births than just the 16? What did the mothers of the unadopted children do when their kid got powers. Clearly Reginald exploited the Umbrellas, but were these other kids just whipping out powers in the school recess lot like Harlin?

Another thought I have: what if Reginald gave them powers? Like he adopted these kids because he was inspired by a comic book or something and now he just wants to create his own army with these orphaned babies?

Another theory! And bare with me here: All of them have power mimicry powers only.

So, obviously, that’s Lila’s power. This seems to be something she figures out on her own or something. But what if that is the only natural power any of them have and Reginald had something done to the Umbrellas and Sparrows to give them the power to “mimic” a power he programmed into them. And that’s why only the academy members have powers, and Lila only seems unique for now.

This theory mostly came to my mind because: what the fuck is Christopher Hargreeves? Like why is he a box? If all 16 known babies actually had the powers to begin with, was Christopher born a box? Did Reginald go to meet this spontaneous mother in the Sparrow timeline only to meet a literal box? I know he’d be fascinated and end up adopting Christopher. But idk, it feels like the fucking box would be famous too if he existed in the Umbrella timeline. So that makes me think the powers are given by Reginald the same way he tried to turn Luther into a half monkey.

That would explain why he knew Viktor shouldn’t know he had powers in season 1. Obviously he knew about them if he locked Viktor in the basement. I don’t really see why he’d be that strict if Viktor wasn’t a threat.

There’s so many questions I have about the prompt of the story to begin with. Like what are the logisitcs of the 16 births? Were there more that just weren’t recorded? I’m done thinking about it for now. But I had to put these theories somewhere. Let me know what y’all think. Add on to the theories too if you’d like.
