Bandit Hartley! (and Cuddles.) Bandit is a guard stationed in Tulgurezon. He is very kindhearted, but rather beastly... but hey, once you get past the sharp claws, teeth, horns, and killer aim... he’s mostly harmless! 

He is a Patchpaw, which is a type of synthetic Monstah made of fabric and stuffing! Patchpaws function almost exactly the same as standard Monstaz, but most of their injuries can easily be fixed with some extra stuffing, a needle, and some thread. They’re also all sterile, kind of like hybrids IRL. So, the only way to make more Patchpaws is to stitch them by hand! 

Bandit’s companion, Cuddles, is a sentient fungus growing on Bandit’s shoulder, and she’s been there as long as he can remember. As most companions and hosts tend to do, they live in a symbiotic relationship--Bandit provides Cuddles with food & protects her by keeping her close, while Cuddles provides Bandit some much needed company.Plus, Cuddles’ presence on Bandit’s arm greatly improves his throwing force and accuracy.

I decided to refine Lola M’s design! She actually hasn’t changed much since I last drew her, but my last post regarding her on this blog isn’t very current at all, so it’s not entirely reflective of how she looked before this drawing. Oh well, it doesn’t make much of a difference since the only difference between current Lola & her previous design is that her eyes used to be colorless & her horns were more neon & yellowish. Also, she didn’t have a solid younger design, like she does now.

 The second version of this image features alt colorations for Lola! 1 is based on her plush inspiration, 2 is like an evil version of Lola I drew back in 2019... her P & G markings are derived from how I sketch out Lola’s markings; I write G or P on each spot so I remember which color goes where. 3 is a night palette I drew her with on an old trading card (also from 2019).

This image is actually a redraw of a pen “sketch” from 2017 or so, which is also missing the younger design for Lola (though her standard design at the time looked very close to it). As you can see, I always knew I wanted her to be bi-to-quad, I just didn’t really know how it’d work logistically at the time. Also she used to not have eyebrows LOL

All things considered, Lola has probably changed the least out of all the BSA protags...

Lately I’ve been in a BSA mood again! So, I’ve been talking to an old friend from scratch, @crowfrombackdoor, and together we’ve reworked her OC, Lina! Lina is a Snapdragoon Monstah from the country of Tulgurezon. She is a gentle giant who got most of her scars from simple mistakes rather than through combat. She loves helping other Monstaz, and is always happy to lend a hand... er... paw, to those in need. She’s actually a little more catlike than I tend to draw Snapdragoons nowadays, but I wanted her design to stick close to the head drawing Crow sent me. (Crow if u wanna reblog this w/ said drawing please do!)

I think now would also be a good time to talk about transforming Monstaz! Snapdragoons aren’t really known to transform, but honestly since all Monstaz are technically the same species, I think it’s possible (plus it just looks cool LOL)! So essentially, transforming Monstaz are Monstaz who shift between 2 or more forms interchangeably, either due to environmental conditions, emotional changes, or even through sheer willpower. Though this is a new name for Monstaz of this type, if anyone remembers Scoops, he is also a transforming Monstah... err... Frizzie. 

Anyways, it was rlly fun redesigning Lina with Crow!! Maybe I’ll collaborate with them again to rework a different character of theirs? Probably, since I’ve actually doodled her character Ren a few times as well, just whenever I had free time in biology class lol. 

The insectoid design drawing took 1h 17m over the course of 2 days. I... wasn’t really counting for the standard design bc I thought it was gonna be a quick sketch & got carried away haha

Trixie Martin! Lola’s mom. I don’t know if I’ve ever posted her here before. Well, if I haven’t, here’s some info about her! She and Lola live together in the jungle country, Tulgurezon. She is a species of Monstah called a Felinoid. She actually has another daughter named Maxine, but she moved out some years ago. Trixie is obsessed with gems and jewelry, and collects them compulsively. She tries to keep a good image for her daughter, but often when she knows Lola is asleep, she heads out to steal more gems and jewelry. Lola just thinks Trixie is being gifted them or buying them herself. 

Essentially, Trixie’s dream has always been to live like a princess, but she’s turned to thievery in order to fulfill it. I have not decided on her effect yet, I think it’ll be something of a pocket dimension she can summon at will. Dunno what to call it though.

This drawing was made on Krita, and it took me about 2h 30m. I dunno if I like Krita very much, it’s cool that it has such a wide variety of brushes but it’s rlly irritating to swap between them... maybe there’s something I’m missing.
