I had this idea so long ago that’s never left my head (honestly I probably posted it here years ago lol)
Basically it’s a premise for a TV series where there’s a team of some kind, maybe they’re superheroes or crime fighters or something
And then they have to deal with aliens in one of the season finales, and at the end of the episode they defeat them and all seems well
But actually, the aliens have the ability to shapeshift. And they’ve taken the team’s leader and replaced them with one of their own.
The team doesn’t know this, and here’s the other thing—neither does the audience. They don’t find out until the NEXT season finale.
There are little hints in the next season leading up to it though, but barely enough for it to be a serious theory: the leader blushes green instead of red due to the aliens’ green blood, some of their mannerisms are ever so slightly off, they’re a bit forgetful and seem to not remember small details about their team, they’re a little more cautious around sharp objects than usual to hide the blood…
Then at the beginning of the next season finale, the leader gets a paper cut in front of everyone. They flip out, run into the bathroom, and obviously the team is confused since it’s such a small injury. Feeling suspicious, one of the teammates barges into the bathroom.
They see the green blood.
Turns out, the leader has been being held in the alien hideout and tortured/used for their powers for however long the season lasted, possibly months. The team finds and rescues them by the end of the episode, but they have to deal with the aftermath of the leader’s trauma and the reality that everything they’ve done, all the bonding they all had for the past season, was fake.
