okay but, like, it's driving me insane that noone seems to be noticing that I am NOT a reliable narrator. my whole character arc is based on immature dreams of general "evil" acts without fully understanding what the concept of evil is, it's just a thing wizards are supposed to be.

it's not an exact metaphor, it's not like wizards and boys and witches are girls and I want to be witch yatta yatta it's kinda more about performing acts of gender and upholding the oppressing system of cis-centered beliefs without fully understanding it, it's about everyone who's completely cis that never explored their gender and therfore don't understand gender as much as a trans person does and in turn: isn't as confident in their gender as any trans person is simply because they don't understand what gender actually means. they say they're cis/not trans instead of saying "I'm a girl" or "I'm a boy" or "I'm neither" or whatever else! (not sure if this makes sense, I'm trying to squeeze a decades worth of gender frustration into a story about evil wizards then explain in a paragraph. I don't mean to offend.)

A trans woman isn't a trans woman because she medically transitions, it's because she was assigned the gender role of 'man' at birth and decided it did not fit her.
A trans woman who is in the closet, pre any kind of transition, even before she realises it, is still the same as a trans woman a decade on E, with bottom surgery and D cups.
A trans womans, or a transfeminised persons, entire social experience relies on that specific perception: A "man", who becomes a woman. That isn't the case for cis intersex women, because they always REMAIN a woman. The medical aspect doesn't make them trans.
And sure, someone's identity doesn't affect me directly. But someone advocating for allowing cis women to be trans women based on the same bioessentialist bullshit that reinforces Blood Quantum, Phrenology, Eugenics Ect. DOES affect me and women like me. So that's why I give a shit.

And I was baffled, because the post never mentions him catcalling anyone, so it's not like this a story about a man getting his own.

"The man must have liked it, because he's a sexual beast." (as if this stereotype hadn't been used against men of color and queer men, usually refering supposed pedophilia among queer men)

well, that's an anthropological history question, and it varies greatly from culture to culture. for example, in jewish, indian, and native american cultures, there are differing ideas of gender, what it means, and how it affects people. the idea of only male and female comes from western culture, specifically christianity, i think. it would be very hard to prove or disprove any guesses to when gender identity evolved, but i would imagine gender has been a part of the brain for a very long time. i have no idea how, but that's not a surprise since there's so much we don't know about the brain. as far as i know, one's gender in relation to their sexuality is a very personal thing, and since talk of this has only very recently (in the grand scheme of things) been talked about, so i doubt there'd be much historical records about it.

however, some species of animals have shown to show both gay and trans 'characteristics'. and with regards to consciousness, it depends on how you define that, which is a very philosophical thing to decide. with 'is it okay to call penguins gay if they lack gender' i see it as. if we can't communicate with animals, see if they have an idea of gender, etc, then sex would be the only way we would tell. i honestly haven't thought about this much, so i'm not super set in my opinions on it.
