I’ve developed a newfound appreciation for TWDG season 3 after watching RDCWorld’s playthrough of the first episode. I know season 3 isn’t most people’s favorite, but I do get why it exists. Usually, the first criticism I see is that it sidelines Clementine for this new character Javi, but after rewatching the first episode, I don’t think that’s necessarily the case.
Javi, to me, is a Lee 2.0. And what I mean by that is he’s the player character during a period of Clem’s life where she wasn’t in a good headspace to be the main protagonist. When Lee Everett was the lead, Clem was a naive child who had to rely on the adults. When Javier Garcia was the lead, Clem was a closed off loner who let anger consume her at times.
I’d imagine that playing as Clem during those periods of her life wouldn’t make for interesting gameplay. If you played as Clem during her Lee period, all your options would be that of a sheltered child. If you played as Clem during her Javier period, all your options would be to choose violence and to not trust. You can technically make that work, but there’s not as much flexibility with the gameplay.
Also, still going with the Javier-Lee parallel, it’s nice being that character who helps Clem grow as a person. Instead of being a father figure teaching survival skills, you’re now a cool uncle teaching social skills/helping Clem get out of her shell. While I do have my problems with the season, I do like the set-up and what Javier’s role was in terms of Clem’s character arc.

TWD S3 is the best game because you can cuck your own brother
rewatching twdg season 3 is so much fun bc of how much of a crackpot it is but honestly? I rly wish they had taken it further. like imagine it just going completely off the f*cking rails. the new frontier is a full-blown cult (we were rly supposed to think the branding was normal?). clem commits arson. javier gets a kidney stolen. that sorta thing. am i right or am i right.
You are very right.
Honestly, if ANF embraced it's wackiness and went ham with it I somehow get the feeling that a lot more people would have had positive reviews of the season purely based on its bold decision of going that route lmao.
I lol'd at the "Javi gets a kidney stolen" part. That would be amazing (and also different to what we've seen in twd universe).
ANF could easily have became what the unused "cult" concept from Season 2 could have been and I would have 100% been there for it
I now want a S3 parody where all of this crazy shit happens (you should write it) and the player is left deeply confused yet entertained.
The entire motorbike scene at the end is just one massive QTE driving game that gets progressively faster and turns into DDR levels of insanity where Javier has to essentially make Street Fighter combos to save his family.

This one’s extremely late I’m sorry
Ship: lujavi (Luke x Javi)
Words: 1 595
It was the second winter since Luke arrived at Richmond and it was surely a cold one. Luke and Javi were crossing the forest near their home, Javi leading him somewhere only he knew. Both had a bag on their back, Luke had a couple of blankets and Javier had... Well, Luke was about to find out real soon now. They were getting further from the gate and eventually, Javi stopped with a smile, looking at the frozen lake in front of them. Luke sent him a confused look, so the man took off his bag and opened it to reveal two pairs of skates. Luke looked into the bag, then at Javi, then into the bag, back at Javi... He did that a couple of times before he backed up, raising his hands in defense.
I'll never understand why the Telltale Walking Dead fandom seems to hate Kate.
People love to point out her falling in love with Javier while she was married to David, but did anyone miss the parts in the game where it was made incredibly clear that David didn't value her and pretty much saw her as an extension of his military crew, and even confessed to Javier that he was considering leaving his family just so he could go back to the military.
That and a whole gang being missing for many years and it's being very easy to believe that he was dead.
Like seriously, Kate did what she could do to make the relationship work and I'm not saying that David was exactly a terrible guy but come on folks sometimes shit doesn't work out.
As for Kate and Javier having a romance that's completely up to you honestly I didn't mind it and felt it was a nice change of pace from the last two games where romance often felt so short lived, and oftentimes a partner would end up getting killed for reasons. And it was so refreshing to have a Walking Dead game that could potentially end on a happy ending romance wise
Seriously guys Kate isn't some shitty person for falling out of love for her husband, that stuff happens zombie apocalypse or not.
