Okay twitter migration is going down especially with artists so I thought I’d post a little how to use the hellsite app because it’s very very different from twitter and I’m sure that’s intimidating to a lot of you and you don’t know how it all works so like first of all the key to this site is that reblog button.
Now you might be saying to yourself zee I like stuff isn’t that enough interaction for the creator and I’m going to respond with that’s the kinda attitude that’s built for twitter.
The thing is Tumblr doesn’t have an algorithm, yes you can go into a tag and the most liked things will be at the top but you see that creates stagnation because everyone will go into the tags see that first and then like it and that art stays up there for like 3 solid months which is fine it’s usually good art but also this website is built to be a river not a pool.
People do actually make fanart for themselves but that doesn’t mean they don’t also want people to see it and you also probably want to see it but if people don’t reblog, artists and writers see that their stuff isn’t going anywhere and they get discouraged and they make less art.
But I get it people don’t realise it because they are expecting likes to work and to let people see stuff because that’s how literally every other website works and that’s just not what happens here.
To give you an example here’s what notes look like in the Gachikuta fandom (brand new fandom) on just the first four most popular posts in that tag rn.
Meanwhile this is from like truly random posts of my old supernatural blog (a very tumblr fandom) :
Like you can see there’s a huge change in ratio and that’s sad because I can tell you that the sense of community is fun when people are interacting in it but when you just like there’s very little interaction especially if everyone else is also just liking.
Also I’ve been on twitter you can comment here. You can also just reblog and instead of quote tweeting you can just write nonsense in the tags and people will respond the community will happen.
Now you might be saying Zee I don’t want to clutter up my blog and annoy my followers by just mass reblogging the ten minutes I’m on the bus and I’m here to tell you that I’ve got you because tumblr has a queue system and it is wonderful. Simply go to reblog, hit those little dots and boom now it’ll be posted at like random intervals.
Now I don’t have a photo example of this cause I don’t actually use side blogs but basically you can just make one for your art/writing and only post from there or only post about one fandom in that side blog and use your main blog and as you like and people will just flock to both. Especially because side blogs are kinda dumb and you can only follow from your main blog but like you can just have a completely clean blog where you only post art and another to interact with everyone and that’s cool! Do that! Idk why I don’t do that.
But yeah that’s my spiel welcome to tumblr guys fuck Elon for making art editable by AI. Be nice and don’t dox.
