the mission was simple. get an insider statistics from undercover hunter and move out. upperhand will take the rest because they were the one breaching the truce― vampires. numbers of people who went missing near hiking track was outrageous. fifteen in less than two days and no trace of them too.

headquarters were a mess as the west region has always been their favourite place when it comes to sending new hunters for a mission. so if the vampires really outgrew the human population there, it will be bloody for us.

the cabin was quiet when i first arrive but there was a cold warning when i hopped out from the car. i briefly checked my phone to see if the undercover was here but nothing was confirmed. he didn't pick up my calls either. "for goddamn sake, i just got here." rolling my eyes out of annoyance, my hand find its way to my back, holding the silver gun firmly as i walked closer to the door.

a cold breeze welcomed me as i stepped into the cabin.

my eyes scanned the hall,

cleared, but there was a sudden move, quick like lightning passed me, causing me to hold the gun out from my back and firmly pointed the gun to a tall figure just beside the curtains. next thing i knew, the hall suddenly lights up, revealing not one but there of them. one behind me and another one behind the counter in the kitchen.

i almost gasped when i saw the one with longer hair hold the gun that belongs to every hunter. its the gun that we get once we completed our training.

"so this is what the fuss is all about."

"where did you get that?"

"isn't it obvious?"

i noticed how the colour of his eyes changed. from black to a crimson red, almost like a blood pierced through me. are they descendent from the first Lamia? only the first purebloods have that colour.

the corner of his lips turned upwards.

"yes i am." he could read my mind even after taking potions that could block vampires from reading us. my eyes narrowed to the stairs where i saw blood stains covered the wood. my heart beat faster and i grabbed the gun harder.

so this is why they were almost no trace of them.

"do you wanna know where's your friend at or did you figured out already?" a sinister laugh escaped from his lips, making me shudder at the thoughts of dying at his hand.

if you wanna kill me then do it

"i'm not going to kill you. not yet." he came forward, just enough for him to whisper it to me. his eyes traced me down before taking the gun away from my hand. he tossed it away and signal the others to leave.

the air was even more colder when i was left alone with him. i tried not to think of anything but the sudden graze from his longs nails startled me. my breath quickens and i could see how he was enjoying it under his watch.

"careful." he hissed under his breath near the ear lobe before vanished into the dark foreboding forest with the rest, leaving me with no choice but to scream mentally in my head, still trying to accept the fact that i wont be getting any insider information.

"i will get back at you."

i'll be waiting sweetheart.
