May I present to you: The Chemistry Nativity Scene
please could you recommend some vegan food high in tyrosine?
The best vegan source is tofu - a single cup of firm tofu has 202% of your recommended daily intake. Likewise though, white beans, seeds of many kinds (especially pumpkin), wild rice, spinach, sweet potato, wheat germ, some noodles, green peas, sweet corn, white potatoes, avocado, whole wheat bread, kiwis, even cocoa powder... We don’t need much of it and it is in a wide range of products, so it really isn’t hard to get enough of it.
“why am i craving -”
tyrosine and phenylalanine
it’s - stop. stop talking. it’s tyrosine. and phenylalanine.
are you unusually craving meat and/or dairy? eggs, perhaps?
are you specifically craving avocado, gourds, nuts, or bananas more than usual?
do you find yourself eating a shitload of carbs daily? (me. oh god, me.)
your body wants more dopamine/norepinephrine. and it gets it from tyrosine and phenylalanine
if you’re like me, and have a fucky brain with adhd/autism/anxiety/trauma/depression and other shit not listed, your brain has a hard time making happy/mood-levelling chemicals. this is for you.
tyrosine rhymes with magazine and is an amino acid that makes protein and helps your metabolism and shit like that. phenylalanine also rhymes with magazine if you sort of squint and tilt your head a little. it does the same shit.
you need to eat tyrosine. and the other one.
“but it’s not on a food label” you say, pointing to whatever you’re holding from your cupboard because you got up and checked for it
nope! it’s not! but you eat it every day, no matter your diet. wikipedia states
For example, the white of an egg has about 250 mg per egg,[5] while lean beef/lamb/pork/salmon/chicken/turkey contains about 1 g per 3 ounces (85 g) portion.[5]
that’s pretty fuckin’ neato
so how do they like. become the happy chemicals?
well, amino acids build up into a protein. your brain wants these specific proteins because that’s what makes the happy chemicals! it’s like 3 am this is the best explanation i got okay.
so if you crave beef, dairy, eggs, avocado, pumpkin, etc - and you have these disorders - try eating a fuckin can of beefaroni and get back to me. or if you’re a vegan apparently tofu is like super high in this so eat some. i dunno. i can’t eat soy so i don’t really now what to do with it besides the japanese dessert tofu you get at my local supermarket okay i’m off track now. eat that. ye
if you are feeling like shit
and you crave these a bit
it’s because your body wants
all that good shit
also a vitamin D supplement even in sunny climates is extremely beneficial and my doctor said that if i had to take one supplement for the rest of my life let it be vitamin D because it fights depression like fucking bruce lee
If your brain doesn't get the nutrients it needs, it won't function optimally. Learn about using precursors to boost cognitive performance.
